Jump to: navigation, search

Release Version:

0.11.0

Distributed:

1st July 2019

Summary

Here's the short version in case you want to head into battle ASAP! We’ve addressed quite a few of your concerns, and the measures we’ve taken are, well… They are "measured"! We hope you enjoy this update!

  • The Germans are set to drop their anchors in Hamburg, which is going to become the default Port for the foreseeable future. Cruisers will become available to research, while destroyers from Tiers III–VI will be obtainable from containers of the new Search and Destroy! campaign and in the in-game Shop.
  • The destroyer branch will become fully researchable in the following update, while battleships will make their early-access debut.
  • A new campaign will feature Commander items that will allow you to upgrade your Commanders to Legendary ranks! Campaign progress will reward you with Deutschmarks that can be spent in the game Shop for useful items. Legendary ranks are independent from the regular 16, and offer an additional skill when upgrading the existing skills' mastery level (4 is the new max value).
  • Commander duplicates will be converted into Personal Commendations, which can be used to upgrade that Commander’s Legendary ranks.
  • A new brigade of Commanders accompanies the incoming fleet. Seven gentlemen are ready to stand at the helms of the arriving German ships. Together with the new Commanders, we’re also adding six new skills and two base traits.
  • Point values for capturing control areas are set to increase, while losing or destroying ships will have a little less impact in terms of points.
  • Spawn points will move back for entire teams on some maps, and just for battleships on others.
  • There is a number of small balance changes for ships and Commanders too: British cruiser Commanders will get better AP-shell skills, while Vanguard will receive an improved Repair PartyLegends_Repair_Party.pngconsumable.
  • You’ll be able to check out your stats through the Service Record and share them through screenshots. Initially, only the account owner will have access to their stats. The ability to browse someone else's stats will become available in a future update.
  • Basic containers will be improved in terms of their contents, and it will become possible to obtain Commander items from them, while Commander crates now come in national versions.
  • Port UI usability is getting improved.
  • Many bugs have been fixed. Among these are the collision prevention system not disabling properly, and AA guns affecting ship detection.
  • HDR is now enabled for the Xbox One S consoles (Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro already had it enabled).
  • The Daily Boost mission is removed for now but will probably come back later.

Search and Destroy Campaign

Introduction of the German Fleet

This update marks the introduction of the German fleet into World of Warships: Legends. We begin with the base class, cruisers, which you can start researching right from the moment the update goes live. As a bonus, you'll have a chance to access the German destroyers before the branch becomes available to everyone with the next patch. For the duration of this update you'll be able to earn special containers that give you a chance to unlock German destroyers. These containers will be available as you progress along the path of the new Search and Destroy! Campaign, and more of them can be obtained after getting an Admiralty Backing. The final milestone in the campaign, however, is not a ship this time, but a Commander item! The item in question is a “Universal Commendation.” It can be used on any Commander to promote him to Legendary status, or to improve his existing Legendary rank. Moreover, a couple of German Commander crates, containing, you guessed it—German Commanders—will be available throughout the campaign.

Along the progression of campaign you’ll earn not only consumables and bonuses, but also Deutschmarks—a special currency which you can spend in the event Shop to get any consumables (except for battle boosters), as well as the themed "Hunter" camouflage that's analogous in its stats to the existing "Type 3" camo. The event Shop itself is accessible as a tab in the Premium Shop in the game, titled "Admiralty. Commander Insignias and Promotion Orders will be available in the event Shop as well! Deutschmarks can be earned in repeatable combat missions which you can complete up to 10 times per day, as well as for moving up through the levels of the new campaign. A significant part of the Deutschmarks available in the campaign do not require Admiralty Backing to obtain.

The new update will feature a new set of German containers, distinguishable by either silver or gold ornamentation. A regular (silver) German container can drop rare boosters, the Hunter camouflage, Global XP, Commander XP, Promotion Orders and has a chance to unlock a German destroyer of Tier III to Tier VI, listed in the "German Ships" paragraph. These containers will be available in the Shop for Deutschmarks. A larger variant of the regular German container will also be available in the Shop for doubloons, carrying more goods: multiple boosters, more XP, Insignias in addition to Promotion Orders, and a higher chance to unlock a German destroyer. Please note that a container can either drop a ship, or a combination of consumables and currencies. If you receive a duplicate ship, you’ll be compensated in credits, but receiving duplicates is very unlikely.

KMS/German Ships

German cruisers offer great ballistics and possess the SonarLegends_Sonar.pngconsumable from tier III upwards, while destroyers have effective torpedo armaments as well as access to Sonar from tier V. Find out all of the peculiarities for yourself by trying out the new ships!

Cruisers

Destroyers (Early Access)

  • Tier II V-25 (available in the following update)
  • Tier VII Z–23 (available in the following update)

German battleships will arrive in early access, similar to destroyers, in the following update.

To further highlight the “leitmotif” of the new campaign, your ships will be relocated to the Port of Hamburg. This will provide a change of both pace and scenery, with a display of European architecture and industrial backdrops with a bit more activity in the background. Hamburg Port will stay as the default Port for the duration of our German Fleet event.

Commanders & Skills

Legendary Ranks

Commanders now have Legendary ranks! These ranks essentially bring an extra skill tier that offers both an additional skill choice and upgrades for the existing regular skills (4 instead of 3 as previously). Please note that Legendary ranks are independent from regular ones! This means that potentially you could have a Commander at Rank 4 with unlocked regular skills and then have the additional Legendary Rank 1, boosting your regular skills with an extra mastery level. The currency used to rank up to Legendary status is either Personal or Universal Commendations. Personal Commendations are granted by duplicates and can only be used on the specific duplicated Commander, while Universal Commendations can be used with anyone among your roster, but are much more rare. The Search and Destroy! campaign will offer Universal Commendations for players both with and without Admiralty Backing.

Commander resources have been removed from the top resource counter and relegated to inventory on the Commander screen. The Legendary skills of Commanders are going to be visible in the ship selection menu window.

German Commanders

Legendary skills are not the only addition to the game, as a new roster of Commanders enters the picture along with the German cruiser line. Please welcome seven new Commanders! They will be available from the German Commander packs, and you'll have an equal chance to score one of the seven by opening such a pack. You will also be able to obtain German commanders from standard commander crates, if you received them after July 1st.

The Commanders are:

  • Erich Bey
  • Franz von Hipper
  • Günther Lütjens
  • Karl von Müller
  • Maximilian von Spee
  • Otto Ciliax
  • Reinhard Scheer

New Traits and Skills

In addition to the new Commanders there are two new skills and six new base traits.

The new skills are:

  • Exposé - improves torpedo detection while the Sonar consumable is active.
  • Listen Closely - reduces Sonar's cooldown and gives it extra charges, but reduces its duration.

The new base traits are:

  • Fire Alarm - reduces the probability of catching fire and the reload time of Damage Control Party.
  • Hearty - increases the speed of cruisers.
  • Shifty - increases the concealment of destroyers.
  • Gimlet - increases the AP shell damage of cruisers.
  • Elbowroom - increases the range of secondary armament.
  • Auger - increases the AP shell damage of battleships.

Service Record

Player statistics are finally here! Browse through your recent battles, overall stats, medals, and more. Please note that currently only your own statistics are visible to you. Open statsheets for other players will come in a future update.

Container Changes

In addition to the German and German Commander containers being added to the game, the rewards in regular crates have been improved. The regular containers that you can obtain daily in the Shop, or that are sometimes rewarded for combat missions can now include rewards such as one or five Commander Promotion Orders, or even a single Commander Insignia. If you roll Commander items they replace those that would be otherwise available, i.e. if you receive an Insignia, it replaces credits/boosters. National Commander crates will also be introduced in the update. They will be available in the game Shop, with each containing one of the seven Commanders of the associated nation.

Attention: since we're changing Commander Crates, we wanted to show our gratitude to players who've purchased at least one of them and supported us. So, if you've acquired 1 or more crates from the store before July 1st (7AM UTC/2 AM CDT), you're eligible for extra crates after the update is released.

Crates will be credited according to the following principle:

  • 1–5 crates purchased — 1 extra crate
  • 6–10 crates purchased — 2 extra crates
  • 11–15 crates purchased — 3 extra crates
  • and so on with 5 crate increments

Please note: Commanders are determined once you receive a crate to your account, so any crates purchased before July 1st cannot contain German Commanders, however if you open them after July 1st, they will provide personal commendations for the duplicated commanders instead of the 90 000 Commander XP20px. Crates you will receive after the update goes live may contain Commanders of the following nations: US, UK, Japan and Germany. Crediting the bonus crates may take us up to 7 days, but we will try to do it ASAP.

UI Improvements

The ship menu in the Port now has loadout and stats as navigable items, so you can access them by moving your focus with a d-pad and pressing A (Xbox) or X (PS).

Balance Changes

Ships

The damage that Vanguard can cause fluctuates quite a bit. However, the average numbers are still respectable. Her survivability rate, however, lags behind the peers a bit, which is why her first buff is the Repair Party consumable, which will regenerate about 60% more HP with the new update. We'll continue to monitor both her ability to stay alive and to dish out punishment, and apply buffs where they're needed. However, we’re keeping our approach conservative as too big of a buff might skew the existing balance too far.

Commander Balance

Bruce Fraser receives two new skills: Piercer for Tier I and Homerun for Tier II, which makes him a more fitting choice for British Cruisers. William Tennant receives the Piercer skill at Tier I as well, which will also help with the effectiveness of AP rounds.

Game Mode Balance

Capture the base will require 120 seconds to capture an area instead of 180, bringing 4 points (up from 2) per 6 seconds. The initial point pools are getting reduced from 300 to 200 for each team.

Domination is also getting corrected.

3 cap domination: 40 seconds to capture a control area instead of 60, and point accumulation will be 5 points (up from 3) per 5 seconds. The initial point pools are getting reduced from 300 to 200 for each team.

4 cap Domination: 40 seconds to capture a control area instead of 60, and point accumulation will be 5 points (up from 3) per 6 seconds. The initial point pools are getting reduced from 300 to 250 for each team. This mode will also see the win-requirement lowered to 750 points instead of 1,000.

Additionally, points taken for losing a friendly ship or awarded for destroying an enemy one are also getting corrected.

The initial values were:

  • Destroyer lost/destroyed: 45/30
  • Cruiser lost/destroyed: 50/35
  • Battleship lost/destroyed: 60/40

The new values are:

  • Destroyer lost/destroyed: 35/25
  • Cruiser lost/destroyed: 40/30
  • Battleship lost/destroyed: 45/35

Spawn Adjustments

Spawn points for opposing teams are moving 10% further away from one another on the following maps:

  • Archipelago
  • Ring
  • Strait
  • Big race

Spawn points for opposing battleships are moving 10% further away from one another on the following maps:

  • Trident
  • Neighbors
  • Estuary
  • Haven

Your feedback indicated that there was a bit too much YOLOing occurring in battles for your liking, so we’re countering that with the aforementioned measures. The objectives will become more valuable this way, while frags—a bit less. Extra space for manoeuvring should also play a positive role in making gameplay more tactical.

We're going to continue monitoring the situation and see whether these measures are enough.

Miscellaneous Improvements and Bug Fixes

  • Disabled collision-prevention system now remains that way (Amen!).
  • Disabled the effects of active AA guns on the detectability of ships (Double Amen!).
