Sources
Containers can be obtained from a variety of sources, including:
- Up to three daily containers, based on net XP earned.
- Events and their associated missions.
- Campaigns.
- Operations rewards.
- Some collections.
- Daily Shipments.
- Premium Shop sales.
- Armory purchases.
- Achieving new Access Levels.
Managing Containers
When a container is available to collect or to open, a little symbol or number will appear on the Containers button in the Left Column of the Port screen. Clicking the button opens the Container Ship screen, a portion of which is shown here. This account has 60 containers in the Warehouse and one that has been earned yet not collected.
Click the top green Collect Container button to collect the earned container, the Open Container button to open the next container (in this case the one on the cargo hatch), the Open All Containers button[2] to open all 60 containers at once, or the View All Containers button to see what's in the Warehouse and select the one(s) to open.
What's in the Warehouse
On this screen you can select a type, then open one or all of that type.
When the Warehouse Overflows
Some players prefer to accumulate containers without immediately opening them. The Warehouse can hold 9,999 total containers, though only 100 containers of each type.[3] If 100 containers of a type accumulate, each container of that type in excess of 100 will be opened automatically.

The Try Your Luck or Small Container
Each Standard container advances progress toward becoming a Super container (SC) when manually collected.[5] The Try Your Luck (TYL) option advances progress three times farther than the other types. If an SC is not produced, the award is a Small Container with less valuable contents:

Other rewards
Collection items
Elements of active collections may appear in Standard containers. This is in addition to the above rewards. Note that only some collections are eligible for this, and only one collection at a time can be active. Collection items drop at a fixed 60% rate.
Some event containers may hold an element of an event collection. Event containers do not drop elements of active collections.
Patches
There is a fixed 15% chance for a Patch symbol or background to appear in a Standard container in addition to the above rewards. A duplicate grants 15,000 instead.
Daily containers
Daily containers are Standard containers that can be earned every day.
Players are able to collect up to three Daily Containers per day by earning XP in battles. For the purposes of these containers, a 'day' is the 24-hour period (usually) beginning and ending at 3:00 AM local time. XP from battles is counted at the time the battle ends. During the 'day' modified XP accumulates and earns daily containers.
- First container:
2,000 XP
- Second container: 12,500 XP (10,500 XP more)
- Third container: 37,000 XP (24,500 XP more)
Note: Containers are earned by modified XP, not by Base XP. Modified XP includes the applicable Ship XP bonuses.
Collecting
Newly earned daily containers are not yet typed. When each is earned the player may select the type of container by collecting it. To collect, click on the "Containers" button in the Port screen. The Containers screen opens. Click the Collect Container button, then select the desired option.
A container of the selected type is added to the Warehouse
At the beginning of the next day, uncollected containers are automatically collected and randomly typed (Try Your Luck cannot occur during this process). The XP accumulator is then reset.
Container contents are determined when they are opened, not when they are collected. Among other effects, this allows duplication of contents to be much reduced.
Super containers 
Super containers hold much more valuable rewards than Standard containers. Every collected daily container has a small chance to become a Super container.[5] Super containers are occasionally awarded directly.
Oil 
For players who are members of clans, Oil is obtained when a container is obtained, not when a container is earned. Currently this affects only daily containers. An earned daily container has not been obtained until it is collected. Containers that are auto-collected do not earn Oil. Players who are not members of a clan cannot earn Oil.
Content drop chances
World of Warships has committed to revealing the percent chances of a particular item 'dropping' or being received when a container is opened. The practice began in fall of 2021 and continues.

Guaranteed Drops
Sometimes known as the Pity rule or the Mercy rule.
For all containers that offer a random chance of containing a ship or another unique reward, there's a mechanic that guarantees that a group with that reward will be dropped after opening a certain number of containers of the same type. This mechanic basically protects player against runs of "bad luck" and works in the same way for everyone. The only thing it takes into account is the number of containers opened by the player. The “counter” of guaranteed drops resets when the desired reward is either dropped randomly or is dropped because of this special mechanic.
The number of containers that can be opened without a content group appearing is stated in the container description. For instance, in the Santa's Mega Gift containers of 2021-22, there was a 16% chance of a ship appearing when one was opened. That by itself is not a guarantee that a ship would ever appear. However with the Mercy Rule, if 14 were opened without a ship, then the next was guaranteed to contain the ship group. Once that group was determined to appear, the mechanics internal to the group determined which ship actually appeared.

Premium ship containers
Premium ship containers each contain one Premium ship. Its content is adjusted from time to time, most recently with Update 12.11. Standard containers have a compensation in Credits and Elite containers in doubloons.
The Premium Ship II–IV container, Premium Ship V container and Premium Ship VII containers are currently available in the Naval Community for Community Tokens.
