In the early 1950s the U.S.S.R exported a total of 1,800 T-34-76 and T-34-85 tanks to China. In 1954 the Chinese government made a decision to begin domestic production of the T-34-85 in 1958, with the new vehicle designated the Type 58. However, production was never initiated, and the Chinese army settled for modifications to the T-34s.

Player Opinion

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Very good maneuverability, better handling than T-34-85
  • Good rate of fire
  • Ability to unlock both Chinese Heavy and Medium tree
  • Great damage per minute
  • Armour frequently bounces shots, especially from lower tiers

Cons:

  • Poor penetration
  • 2 less degree of gun depression compare to T-34-85
  • Does not improve significantly from stock configuration
  • Poor acceleration compared to the T-34-85
  • Decent versatility, although less so than the T-34-85 due to lack of gun depression and general gun statistics

Performance

  • One of the strongest points of the Type 58 is its largely painless grind.
