Well known for its "Vaderturm", and ingame as the "TIE fighter" for its side skirts (which it is important to note, do NOT have a hitboxes), if you had played the Pz.Kpfw. IV prior patch 8.0 you know what to expect, an excellent sniper tank with decent mobility and excellent turret armor, the Panzer 4 Schmalturm excels at the role of supporting an assault from far distances and even more with the enhanced reload time, you can keep enemies occupied while your team moves forward and still keep up the pace of the battle.
While the penetration is still superb, the alpha damage is still lacking for its tier, so experienced tankers will try to shorten the distance gap to get to you, as fighting close range is the bane of this tank with overall weak hull armor and slow turret rotation speed against you. You should seek at all times only to expose your strong turret to defeat your enemies, make no mistake, the L/70 75mm gun is still a serious threat against any opponent, with its excellent accuracy and penetration.

Performance
This tank can easily sit back into a relaxed position with camouflage and binoculars modules and make short work of targets from afar, or if you are more assault-oriented, you can keep up your heavy tank's pace and support them from behind the lines. Only under dire circumstances you should consider going into frontal assault if you think you can outlast your enemy. Still, one-on-one, the Pz. IV S. can outmatch most tier 6 and below tanks due its extremely good penetration. Just keep in mind that while you can certainly dish out the damage, the Pz. IV S. cannot receive much punishment, and even the new side skirts will not protect you from most sources of damage.
