Grozovoi — Soviet Tier X destroyer.
The operational requirements for a large ocean-going destroyer design that was intended to be a development of Project 35 were approved in August of 1942. The design was known as Project 40. In the summer of 1945, it was decided to build 132 "large" destroyers, but in September of the same year, the plans were abandoned to focus on light cruisers and conventional destroyers instead.

Player Opinion
Pros:
- Stealthier than the other Tier X Soviet destroyer, the Khabarovsk.
- Torpedoes have fairly good range and have decent speed.
- Has slightly faster shells than the Khabarovsk.
- Has access to the Defensive AA consumable in order to be a menace against planes.
- Main batteries have rapid rate of fire.
Cons:
- Has less hit points than the Khabarovsk.
- Has one less turret than the Khabarovsk.
- Its HE shells have less damage (1800 vs 1900) than the HE-46 shells that are standard on other Soviet destroyers.
- Pitiful base firing range. Even with the Advanced Firing Training skill the firing range is only 12.4km.
- Slightly slower than the Udaloi, much slower than the Khabarovsk.
- Besides speed, it has the poor maneuverability characteristic of the Soviet destroyer line.
Optimal Configuration
Upgrades
As a Tier X destroyer with access to all six upgrade slots, it's best to mount the following upgrades: Main Armaments Modification 1, Aiming Systems Modification 1, Main Battery Modification 3 (as it relies heavily on its main batteries), Propulsion Modification 1 (as it relies heavily on its speed as a secondary defense to incoming enemy shells), Steering Gears Modification 2 (when stacked with Steering Gears Modification 3, allows for having rudder shift much like a USN destroyer), and Steering Gears Modification 3 (as the concealment is already poor even while firing and as aforementioned, this allows you to evade shells even better by having rudder shift similar to a USN destroyer) or Concealment System Modification 1 (if the player wishes to utilize the ship's torpedoes more effectively through a concealment build).
If the player has one of the rare Engine Boost Modification upgrades and has the Sierra Mike signal equipped, it is worthwhile to replace the Propulsion Modification 1 upgrade, as it extends your Engine Boost consumable duration by 50%, thereby allowing you to maintain a max speed of 44.8 kts for three minutes.

Camouflage
Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 1 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce the accuracy of incoming shells.
Players who wish to spend doubloons are recommended to equip Grozovoi with the permanent Type 20 camouflage rather than the pay-per-battle premium Type 6 camouflage as the permanent Type 20 lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, reduces cost of repairs, and increases the amount of credits and experience she earns. The premium Type 6, unlike the permanent Type 20, does not provide repair cost reduction benefits nor does it increase the amount of credits earned.
