Admiral Ushakov — Soviet Tier ★ battleship.

In 1945, the Navy's General Staff gave the order to develop a battleship under Project 24, which included 15 draft designs within its framework to be reviewed. The largest of them was a project with a suggested displacement of 110,000 tons that was similar in architecture to the Project 82 heavy cruisers. Plans were made to construct the ship by 1955, but they never came to fruition. If she had ended up being embodied in metal, the ship could have become the largest and most powerful battleship in history.

Admiral Ushakov was first released on 4 August 2022.

Combat Capability - Immediate Main Battery Recalibration

UshakovCombatInstruction.png
Admiral Ushakov is equipped with the Immediate Main Battery Recalibration combat instruction, which reduces main battery shell dispersion and increases main battery firing range for a short period of time. It can be activated after firing 12 main battery turrets at locked-on enemy targets.

Requirements:

Can only be used after successful gun adjustment firing.
Required number of qualified gun shots: 10

Effects:

  • Maximum main battery dispersion: -30%
  • Maximum main battery firing range: +10%
  • Action time: 25 seconds

Admiral Ushakov is the supership of the Soviet Battleship tech tree. She shares similar characteristics to Kremlin, including the same 457mm guns, thick armor, and high survivability, and adds the Immediate Main Battery Recalibration combat instruction that further increases her main battery effectiveness at all ranges.

Armament:

Admiral Ushakov carries nine 457mm guns (the same guns as Kremlin) housed in three triple turrets. These guns have a modest range of 21.3km. Admiral Ushakov has a slow reload, 29 seconds after equipping Main Battery Modification 3 : -12% main battery loading time. / -13% main battery traverse speed.. The turrets on Admiral Ushakov are fast, with a 180-degree turn time of 30 seconds.

Due to their high caliber, these guns can overmatch 30mm plating, armor plating commonly found on tier X cruisers. Her AP shells have good alpha strike at 14,500, with good ballistics, and average penetration. Her HE shells have 76mm of penetration and a 45% fire chance (Identical AP and HE shells as Kremlin).

Admiral Ushakov uses the same dispersion curve as other Russian tech tree battleships, with improved close and mid range dispersion but poor long range dispersion. However, this weakness is offset by the Immediate Main Battery Recalibration combat instruction, which decreases maximum dispersion by 30% and increases main battery firing range by 10% for 25 seconds.

Survivabillity:

Admiral Ushakov’s hull features a similar armor scheme to Kremlin. Overall it’s very strong, with a 60mm deck, 32mm bow and stern with 50 mm bow belt, and very thick 425mm main belt. In addition to her armor is a hidden 200mm deck, which makes Admiral Ushakov extremely difficult to citadel with AP bombs.

Like Kremlin, Admiral Ushakov’s citadel is large and easily hit at close range when not angled. As a result of her armor layout, Admiral Ushakov is best played at an angled position when kiting or bow in during pushes. Players must be aware of battleships on her flank due to her large citadel. Her 14.4km concealment is higher than average for a battleship and a kilometer more than Kremlin. She has the largest health pool in the game at 135,300. However, her torpedo damage reduction is average at 35.5% (Which is 10.8% lower than Kremlin). Admiral Ushakov is a noticeably larger target than Kremlin and much easier to hit at longer range.

While her armor can easily resist HE shells, Admiral Ushakov’s large HP pool leaves her very susceptible to percentage-based fire damage, with a single full duration fire dealing more than 24,000 damage. She has the Fast Damage Control TeamWhen activated, instantly repairs fires, floods, and incapacitations, and prevents more for the duration. consumable to counteract this, but once she uses it up she’ll lose a lot of health to fires. Like Kremlin and the other Soviet battleships, Admiral Ushakov has 3 charges of Repair PartyWhile active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second., which can be increased to 4 with the Emergency Repair Specialist captain skill. However, It is still less than the usual 5 charges of Repair Party that most battleships can have.

Maneuverability:

Admiral Ushakov’s 30 knot top speed is good for her size, allowing her to make forward pushes or comfortably reposition as needed. However, her rudder shift and turning radius are very bad at 21.61s and 1290m respectively, the largest turning circle of any battleship. Due to having carrier levels of maneuverability, players must position carefully as turning away gives considerable time for enemy ships to deal massive damage. Combined with her average torpedo damage reduction, torpedoes are a considerable threat as she can’t maneuver quickly.

Anti-Aircraft:

Admiral Ushakov has good long and medium AA DPS (343 and 465 respectively) with 12 flak, the most of any Tier X or XI battleship. The flak damage is also the highest base flak damage at 1890 damage per flak. While she gains more AA DPS over Kremlin, her maximum range is reduced to 6km because of her dual-purpose quad 130mm mounts. Despite her strong AA, she still can’t fully stop a carrier strike herself. Grouping up with allied ships to overlap AA is recommended when facing a carrier.

Battle Performance:

For Kremlin players, Admiral Ushakov should feel familiar. Possessing the same armament of triple 457mm guns and strong frontal armor, aggressive play is more rewarding due to the unique dispersion curve of the Soviet battleships. The Main Battery Recalibration combat instruction helps Admiral Ushakov in engagements at all ranges.

However, she also has considerable downsides, notably terrible agility and poor concealment, which makes the close to medium play style much more difficult to do successfully. Having the largest hitpoint pool comes at a price, as Admiral Ushakov takes much more fire damage, more torpedo damage due to the lower torpedo damage reduction, and is an easier target to hit.

Admiral Ushakov is primarily a bow tanking battleship that has the ability to overmatch many cruisers and crush broadside battleships. The addition of the Main Battery Recalibration combat instruction further strengthens this aspect with improved accuracy. Due to the nature of the combat instructions, players will find more success in firing as much as possible to fulfill the requirements for the Main Battery Recalibration.

Admiral Ushakov is a Kremlin with improved offensive capabilities at the cost of increased vulnerability to fires, torpedoes, and pen damage.

Pros:

  • Largest HP pool in the game
  • Heavily armored deck and side plating
  • Large 457mm guns with good alpha strike
  • Fast turret traverse
  • Good AA DPS
  • Combat instructions that reduce dispersion by 30% and increase range by 10%
  • Fast Damage Control Teams consumable, with a short cooldown

Cons:

  • Large target
  • Large citadel
  • Very vulnerable to fire damage
  • Slow reload
  • Poor/Terrible agility
  • Bad concealment
  • Limited Fast Damage Control Teams consumables
  • 1 less Repair Party consumable
