The SU-122-44 is a Soviet Tier VII premium Tank Destroyer.
Development was started in June 1944 by the Uralmash Design Bureau, with the vehicle based on the T-44 chassis similar to the SU-85 and SU-100 being based off the T-34 chassis. It had a conventional configuration, with the front placement of the fighting compartment. In October 1944, the People's Commissariat of the Tank Industry considered the SU-122-44 project. In December the design project was ready. Ultimately, the SU-100M-2 with the rear placement of the fighting compartment was preferred, and the SU-122-44 project was scrapped.
One of the best premium tanks in the game thanks to good mobility, great armor, and a powerful high DpM gun. It is not atypical of most premiums, as it is arguably one of the best tanks in it's tier with little in the way of weaknesses.

Performance
Thanks to good mobility and a hard hitting and fast firing gun, the SU-122-44 makes for one of the best Medium TD's. By "Medium TD" the SU-122-44 works well following along with Medium tanks and Heavies, and playing a more aggressive, turretless Medium tank style. It has better frontal armor then Medium tanks, a much stronger gun, and an equal if not better track traverse of 42 d/s. It performs in this role much better then it does in a proper sniping tank destroyer role, due to a horrendous Aim Time and an acceptable, but not particularly great base accuracy value. It has a poor View Range, so it will not be detecting too many of it's own targets, however it does have a great camouflage value, which will in part help mitigate the poor view range.
The armor is pretty strong thanks to heavy sloping, and at a distance tanks with less than 200mm of penetration can easily bounce off you. To increase your chances, angle a little bit between shots, or wiggle the tank back and forth aggressively. Be wary of tanks getting too close though, as the true armor value is quite low, and the closer in something is, the lower your armor value becomes. This is especially true against tall opponents (most tanks are taller than the SU-122-44).
Due to the penetration of the gun and non-precise accuracy, Tier IX opponents represent a bit of a challenge. When in a Tier IX battle, remember to play the SU-122-44 as though it were a turretless Medium. Use your mobility to get around opponents and flank them, this will allow you to go for the much weaker side and rear armor. If setting up to snipe, try to situate yourself in an area where side shots are going to be prevalent.
When top tier; dominate! The 122mm is absolutely devastating against same tier and lower tier opponents. The alpha damage combined with the rate of fire means you can out-damage basically everything you come across. That said, only brawl against the Tier VII Heavies if they have already been damaged, otherwise a full health Heavy has enough hit points to weather your shots, just long enough to whittle away your low HP and destroy you.
