Specifically, the mismatch in crew values caused by commander's 10% crew skill bonus. Outside of a crew of 1 commander only, 100% crew is a fiction. The client values, given for 100% crew, will normally be taken into battle with 110% crew skill members aside from specific functions, causing their actual performance to deviate from the expected client value. These differences are taken into account in tooltip boxes.

The Prototipo Standard B is an Italian tier 9 medium tank.

This vehicle is one of the prototypes developed and built under the Kampfpanzer Standard program (which Italy joined in 1958) with the cooperation of Ingenieurbüro Warneke, Rheinstahl Hanomag, Henschel and Rheinmetall. After comprehensive trials, the prototypes of the A group were preferred over other variants, further work on which led to the production of the Leopard 1. In 1960, a total of two prototypes were manufactured.

The Prototipo Standard B leads to the Progetto M40 mod. 65.

Player Opinion

Pros and Cons

Pros:

- Good gun comparable to the Leopard Prototyp A, only minor difference in alpha damage and accuracy

- Has an autoreloader with 3-round clip

- Mobility is better than the Leopard Prototyp A due to less weight; top turret and engine are ligher than stock ones

- Smaller and more rounded silhouette than the Leopard, especially on turret

- Appreciable large ammo stock, sufficient for elongated engagements

- Relatively easy stock grind with competitive gun

- Generous gun depression of 10° with top turret

- Gun mantlet is considerably better and more spaced than the one on Leopard Prototyp A, it can bounce direct frontal hits

Cons:

- Except on gun mantlet, armor is virtually non-existent, arguably even worse than on Leopard

- Refilling a clip from empty takes horribly long tome considering its size

- Somewhat low view range for tier IX medium

- No gun depression on rear arc with top turret

- Lower alpha damage per shot (360) when compared to most other 105mm medium tank guns (390)

- Sluggish with stock engine

Performance

The Standard B behaves much like the Leopard Prototyp A, but is better in nearly all aspects. It carries very similar gun which is only slightly less accurate and with slightly lower alpha, but is autoreloaded with 3-round clip and packs the same excellent penetration of 268mm. You will therefore rarely need to fire premium rounds. Standard B has no armor to speak of (except on gun mantlet), so you need to play careful and try not to get shot at all times. Your 1.700 HP can go away very fast; miracle bounces do happen, but only on ridgelines. Make use of the 10° of gun depression - peek, fire and go back into hiding.

The Standard B plays slightly different from the Progetto 46 and the P44 Panterra. The Progetto 46 has a 2 second delay between rounds, the Panterra 2.5 and the Standard B has 3 seconds delay. This actually helps in many cases - you will have time to retreat and reevaluate your position after each shot and not try to fire your entire magazine, which would force you to reload for about 28 seconds.

If you see an enemy that has around 1.000 hp or less you can try to clip him out, but keep in mind that you will be reloading for a long time after doing so - look for a place to hide in advance. If you find yourself in a close quarter fight, NEVER EMPTY your magazine unless you are 100% sure that you will be destroyed very quickly. Firing just the first shell keeps your DPM up and raises your chances of survival.

Early Research

First of all the 105mm Tier X gun needs to be researched. It allows for a much higher clip potential. Following this research either the top turret for the 10° gun depression or the engine. With the stock engine the Standard B behaves sluggish. Radio and tracks are only needed if you wish to elite the tank. The stock suspension can carry all modules.
