Chikuma — Japanese Tier II cruiser.

Tras la guerra contra Rusia, Japón comenzó a desarrollar cruceros ligeros. El crucero Tone (puesto en grada en 1905) se empleó como base para el nuevo diseño. El proyecto estuvo influido por los diseños de cascos de los cruceros auxiliares rusos y los barcos británicos de clase Town. Por primera vez, se utilizaron turbinas en un crucero japonés. Durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, el Chikuma formó parte del escuadrón que persiguió a la división del almirante von Spee y, después, al crucero Emden.

Pros:

Incredible armor for its tier.
Fastest current Tier 2 cruiser at 26.4kts.
Gun range is good before the upgrade.

Cons:

Despite its speed the Maneuverability is poor.
Has less concealment than the Chester.
AA Guns are practically useless and will often get knocked out with a single shell anyway.
Is prone to getting its engine knocked out in battle.
Stock hull gives only a 3 gun broadside
Guns have a slow reload time for its caliber

Research

Get the Hull type b upgrade first to add 2 guns to your full broadside.

Follow that by the gun fire control system for increased gun range.
