The Ausf B initially will seem more like a downgrade from a Tiger 2, but give it time and get used to its unique playing style, and you could easily find yourself playing a part in tipping the battle in your team's favor. Initially, the Ausf B is slow and clumsy. Its rearward-mounted turret makes it so you have to fully reveal yourself from cover to fire. This can be corrected by turning your tank backwards and moving back to expose only your turret. However, when upgraded, it makes up for some of its more awkward grievances with the ability to bounce a large amount of shells. However, its frontal armor has a glaring weakness that is easy for most seasoned players to hit. You may want to keep your Tiger 2 (tier 5 tanks are preferred due to their low repair costs and high credit earnings) as well, because in some cases, the learning curve can become fairly expensive and you may suffer heavy financial hits until you've grown (or groaned) with this heavy. Don't give up. It's well worth the pain. If mastered, the Ausf B can be a rewarding tank to play and is great preparation for the playing style of the Maus.

Historical Info

Two prototypes of this vehicle (one with the forward-mounted turret and the other with the rear-mounted turret) were designed by Ferdinand Porsche, but it never entered production.

After the failure of a prototype VK 4501 (P), Dr. Porsche began the work of fine-tuning its project for future production. For Porsche, it became clear that the increasing reservations about prototype VK4501 (P) were that it did not allow it to conform to future tanks. In the new project, in its constant desire to achieve unprecedented performance, Porsche offered four engine variants, two variants of the drive (electric and hydraulic), and two versions of the body (with the location of the turret in the front or the rear). Thus, the VK 4502 (P) was a many-faceted tank. Originally receiving the designation Typ 180, the tank spawned a series of five potential machines under the following variant symbols:

The Typ 180A, Porsche Typ 101/3 Typ 180B, Porsche Typ 101/4 Typ 181A, Porsche Typ 101/3 Typ 181B, Porsche Deutz Typ 180/1 Typ 181C, Porsche Deutz Typ 180/2 Typ 180A, Electric drive gasoline-powered Porsche Typ 101 / 3 Typ 180B, Electric drive gasoline-powered Porsche Typ 101 / 4 Typ 181A, Hydraulic Voith II with a gasoline engine Porsche Typ 101 / 3 Typ 181B, Hydraulic Voith II with a diesel engine Porsche Deutz Typ 180 / 1 Typ 181C, and the Hydraulic Voith II with a diesel Porsche Deutz Typ 180 / 2.
