The FV4201 Chieftain Proto is a British tier 9 premium heavy tank.
The development of a new tank for the British Army started in 1951. During research, various armaments, power units, and transmissions were considered. In January 1960, the first prototype of a new vehicle was built. In total, 6 prototypes were built that were improved several times during the trials. The continued work on the prototypes led to the Chieftain being adopted for service in 1966.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Excellent penetration and shell velocity
- Very strong turret face, and the upper glacis is thin but well-angled
- Great gun depression, can use most hulldown positions
- Decent mobility
- Full premium economy despite being Tier 9, and generates bonds like a Tier 10 tank
Cons:
- Poor DPM
- Accuracy is lacking for a 120mm British gun
- Poor gun handling and aim time
- Large turret cupola is an obvious weakspot
- Very weak hull armour
