The WZ-114 is a Chinese tier 9 premium heavy tank.
As part of a program to create domestic vehicles, Chinese designers developed a project to build the WZ-114 heavy tank. The vehicle was notably different from its Soviet counterparts and was considered to be quite promising. However, it was never actually built.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Joint highest healthpool among all Tier 9 heavy tanks (tied with Mäuschen)
- Great alpha damage, with good penetration and shell velocity, and excellent accuracy
- Very strong upper glacis and turret face armor
- Great gun depression, especially for a Chinese tank, at -10 degrees
- Crew slots match all other techtree Chinese heavy tanks
Cons:
- Worst DPM among Tier 9 heavy tanks
- Lower glacis, turret cupola and hull/turret sides are rather weak
- Abysmal on the move gun handling, and very poor aim time
- Slow and sluggish, mobility is overall poor
- Often suffers critical hits to the fuel tanks and ammo rack
Performance
Although classed as a heavy tank, the WZ-114 is more comfortable when played more like a turreted TD. The gun's characteristics mean finding a good position and keeping it long enough to fire a shot is crucial. Fortunately the tank's frontal armor is strong enough to deflect many snapshots, but it fares more poorly when forced into a mutual standoff, as the lower glacis is very large and even the cupola can be readily penetrated when hulldown.
The gun's strengths include high AP shell penetration and velocity as well as good base accuracy. However, its long reload time, long aim time and horrible handling require a large degree of patience. Snap shots are questionable at best with the right equipment and near impossible without. Missing a shot is painful, and to add insult to injury, the WZ-114 can often be out-traded 2 for 1 even by vehicles with equal or higher alpha.
The WZ-114 can be used to lead an advance if more suitable tanks are not present, however care should be taken to not over extend: The side armour is not good enough to brawl, and even a slightly off side enemy in front of you can penetrate it if you're not paying attention, especially if their guns are larger than 120 mm. Keep the enemy in front of you so your armour can work and leave flanking to your faster teammates whenever you can. Retreating in the middle of a fight is difficult as the tank's poor damage output, large size, and slow traverse and reverse speed make it hard to withdraw without taking heavy damage; it must be done in advance, or otherwise you should simply avoid situations where it might be necessary to begin with.
Straight-line mobility is acceptable, as the Power-weight ratio and terrain resistances are decent. The forward speed limit can be raised with the use of Field Mod VII if one is willing to accept the increased fragility that comes with it. The tactical maneuverability, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. High ground is useful for the WZ-114 thanks to its American-like gun-depression, but make sure you're not exposed to the enemy when you climb to it as you'll be an easy target.
In totality, the WZ 114 tends to be frustrating to use when pressed into an aggressive playstyle. The armor and HP, although seemingly workable on paper, are often difficult to fully leverage in light of the tank's other stats. Heavy exposure is required to land shots, yet the gun often does not work well for punishing the exposure of an alert opponent in return. Reducing the HP pool of an enemy push is a ponderous process, while, on the flip side, the WZ 114 will be quickly cut down when overextended. In a more passive role, the long aiming process of the gun will be rewarded by good accuracy and a large fraction of the enemy's health bar, and the tank's own HP can allow a player to survive for a much longer portion of the match provided they take cover and avoid focused fire.
