The CS-53 is a Polish tier 8 medium tank.
In the first half of the 1950s, the Military Technical Academy of Warsaw was developing several projects of medium tanks. These projects were greatly influenced by Soviet tank-building. During the development process, Polish experts adopted the technical and configurational concepts used in the experimental, mass-produced Soviet T-54 tank. Existed only in blueprints.
The CS-53 leads to the CS-59.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Good DPM and alpha damage
- Outstanding premium ammo penetration
- Good gun depression
- Good hp/t with the top engine
- Low profile and good camouflage
Cons:
- Very weak armor, expect nothing but lucky ricochets
- Poor gun handling for a 100mm gun
- High terrain resistance, poor agility
- Frequent module damage and crew injury
- Awful stock grind
Performance
The first "unique" tank of the Polish medium line, the CS-53 continues the trend started by the preceding CS-44 of being a rather generic medium tank best defined by a (for its tier) powerful gun. Equipped with its top 100mm gun, this tank enjoys good alpha damage, good DPM (for Tier 8 MT standards) as well as good penetration - standard penetration is plenty serviceable, but premium penetration is downright amazing, to the point it is realistically possible to damage even Tier 10 tanks with some reliability.
Unfortunately, the gun is all this tank has to offer. Despite its looks, reminiscent of Soviet and Chinese MTs, its armor is poor and riddled with weakspots, and won't be reliable defense against enemy fire. Rare ricochets are possible, but that's about it. Also, be mindful that this tank's healthpool is low, and it is very easy to suffer critical hits to modules and/or crew. In short, survivability is poor. The same can be said for mobility, as while the speed and engine power are satisfying, this tank cannot pivot (turn while stationary with both tracks) and its ground resistance is high, limiting its overall mobility.
Lastly, this is the only Polish medium tank where the loader is also the radioman.
Overall, the CS-53 is can be pretty tough to grind through. Even when fully upgraded (and do remember the stock grind is horrible), it is a full support vehicle with little actual carry potential. Its gun is its best asset, so a cautious playstyle is heavily recommended.
Early Research
- Research the 100mm armata wz. 53 gun
- Research the top gun, it's what makes this tank playable
- Research the suspensions
- Research the upgraded turret
- Research the upgraded engine
- The top radio can be skipped, it will unlock automatically upon researching the CS-59
