The T-29 is a Soviet tier 3 premium medium tank.
Developed in 1934 by the tank bureau within the economic division of the Joint State Political Directorate. The project was designed to replace the T-28. The working prototype was produced in Leningrad, at the Experimental Kirov Plant (Plant No. 185) in 1935, under the supervision of engineer N. V. Tseyts. The vehicle was provided with a wheeled and caterpillar propulsion system. The tank entered service in February 1936; its production was started at Leningrad Kirov Plant. Only a few vehicles were built before production was discontinued due to complex construction and unreliable chassis.
The miniature (but still large) version of the T-28, this tank was given to all players in the 2017 Christmas event. Unlike other free garage slot Christmas gift tanks it can be only sold for a little amount of money (1000 credits).
If you think this tank is a waste of garage slots, you should reconsider. The T-29 was destined to be "zerg rusher" in lower-tier matches, since its accuracy is pure comedic; it has to get close enough to enemies in order to be able to land a big punch on them. But once there you can use relatively fast speed and ridiculous weight and size as deadly weapons against any enemies you see to destroy them either by ramming or using your big gun.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Decent mobility
- High alpha damage, enough to do two or three shots on most tanks in the same tier
- Very fast reload time (4.99 seconds with 100% crew) and good DPM
- Heaviest tank in Tier III (29 tons -- two times heavier than most tanks in tier); combined with fast mobility means it can literally ram with full speed at almost every Tier III tank or lower (except another T-29) and potentially kill them!
- Decent credit maker; earns 10k+ per battle
Cons:
- Poor armor and large size; easily destroyed if not covered
- Abysmal gun handling that's not much better than that of SPG's; extremely poor accuracy (especially on the move) with limited gun depression
- Signal range is lackluster and view range mediocre at most
- Poor module health
Performance
The T-29 is a Tier III Soviet medium tank and well-known because it was a gift almost everyone could get. This tank is very capable of dealing damage to enemies but is unable to hold a whole flank alone. But first let's look at the tank . . .
The gun is very deadly with high damage and the HE shells have very high penetration ( slightly less than the AP-rounds). With a 100% crew the reload time is around five seconds it also sports very high DPM. You're able to two- or three-shot your enemies. But be aware of the accuracy and aim time, those values are horrible. You will have to aim fully before you shoot or else you are going to miss most of the time, so be aware.
Your mobility is quite good. Your weight is very high, almost 2-3 times heavier then most same-tier tanks, so ramming is always an option unless you encounter another T-29. The tank is very agile, the reverse speed is good and as advertised.
Your armor is unfortunately very bad. Even light machine-guns are going to penetrate you so try to use any form of cover and use your teammates as shields.
Your play-style depends on your match-up. In a Tier III battle play aggressively, but only if you are sure you can survive for some time. Shoot HE most of the time so you always deal damage. Ramming other tanks is a good option, you are able to deal massive damage; you can even kill a full-health tank by ramming! You should always have some teammates around you so they can take the damage while you shoot when the enemies are reloading.
In tier IV the situation is almost the same, but you will meet better armored opponents with deadlier guns. Always go with your top-tier tanks ( especially tanks like the Pz. B2 and B1) so you have allies who can take hits for you.
