The Prototipo Standard B is an Italian tier 9 medium tank.
This vehicle is one of the prototypes developed and built under the Kampfpanzer Standard program (which Italy joined in 1958) with the cooperation of Ingenieurbüro Warneke, Rheinstahl Hanomag, Henschel and Rheinmetall. After comprehensive trials, the prototypes of the A group were preferred over other variants, further work on which led to the production of the Leopard 1. In 1960, a total of two prototypes were manufactured.
The Prototipo Standard B leads to the Progetto M40 mod. 65.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Has an autoreloader with 3-round clip and with good penetration
- Very good mobility; top turret and engine are ligher than stock ones
- Small and rounded silhouette, especially on turret
- Appreciable large ammo stock, sufficient for elongated engagements
- Relatively easy stock grind with competitive gun
- Generous gun depression of 10° with top turret
Cons:
- Except on gun mantlet, armor is virtually non-existent
- Refilling a clip from empty takes horribly long considering its size
- Somewhat low view range for tier IX medium
- No gun depression on rear arc with top turret
- Lower alpha damage per shot (360) when compared to most other 105mm medium tank guns (390 or even 420)
- Very long aim, poor gun handling and average fully aimed dispersion
- Ammo rack is very fragile
Performance
The Standard B plays similar to Leopard Prototyp A, with a few differences. It carries a very good top gun, which rarely needs to use premium ammo - it has a nice 268mm penetration. Although this gun is in most stats slightly worse than Leopard's (alpha, penetration, accuracy, aim time), it is autoreloaded with 3-round clip and that makes a huge difference in terms of choice - you can play both as a classic single shot medium tank or an autoloader if a chance to unleash multiple shots presents itself. Standard B has no armor to speak of (except on gun mantlet), so you need to play careful and try not to get shot at all times. Your 1.700 HP can go away very fast; miracle bounces do happen, but only on ridgelines. Make use of the 10° of gun depression - peek, fire and go back into hiding.
The Standard B plays slightly different from the Progetto 46 and the P44 Pantera. The Progetto 46 has a 2 second delay between rounds, the Pantera 2.5 and the Standard B has 3 seconds delay. This actually helps in many cases - you will have time to retreat and reevaluate your position after each shot and not try to fire your entire magazine, which would force you to reload for about 28 seconds.
If you see an enemy that has around 1.000 hp or less you can try to clip him out, but keep in mind that you will be reloading for a long time after doing so - look for a place to hide in advance. If you find yourself in a close quarter fight, NEVER EMPTY your magazine unless you are 100% sure that you will be destroyed very quickly. Firing just the first shell keeps your DPM up and raises your chances of survival.
- Note: In Update 1.10, or Equipment 2.0, the Standard B was nerfed. The already poor DPM is even worse now due to being unable to equip a gun rammer, the aim time and dispersion were nerfed on all guns, the bloom after firing was nerfed on all guns, and the engine power was reduced from 750 to 690. This puts it in a much worse position, as the gun is now much less reliable, along with a hit to mobility.
Early Research
First of all the 105mm Tier X gun needs to be researched. It allows for a much higher clip potential. Following this research either the top turret for the 10° gun depression or the engine. With the stock engine the Standard B behaves sluggish. Radio and tracks are only needed if you wish to elite the tank. The stock suspension can carry all modules.
