Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- High alpha damage
- Good gun handling and accuracy values for the caliber of the gun
- Strong turret and upper glacis armor
- Good gun depression (-8° at front of the tank, -10° at the sides)
- Good viewrange (380 m)
Cons:
- Long reload and aim time
- Upper glacis and turret aside, hull armor is overall weak
- The tank is slow compared to the other new fast heavy tanks
- Premium ammo only gives a small boost to penetration
Performance
This tank can be considered the direct competitor of the old mighty object 252 U Defender, however, except the caliber of the gun, the polish and the russian tanks have two completely different game styles. If the defender is a easy friendly tank to play, especially for new players thanks for his armor, the 50 tp prototype shines in the hands of skilled players.
The major strengths of the polish tanks are: gun depression, alpha damage, strong turret and decent view range. The best way to use this tank is "peek a boom" technique by using his gun depression on the ridge line. Players who mastered 50 tp prototype know how to maximize the gun depression of the tank by turning the gun on the sides (gun depression is boosted form -8° on the front up to -10° on the sides), but in this case you must be careful: if it is not played perfectly you will expose your tracks and become easy target for the enemies. 50 TP prototype can be used also for sidescraping, but it is not advisable: lower plate is really poor (and a obvious weak spot) and you can be also penetrated on the turret ring and the commander's hatch easily.
In the end, 50 TP prototype is a really underestimated heavy tank, maybe because players think that it stacks behind the shadow of the obj 252 U Defender; but if it is played correctly the polish heavy tank can be a real nightmare for the enemies.
