The Controcarro 1 Mk. 2 is an Italian tier 9 tank destroyer.
In the 1960s, the Italian company OTO Melara started working on a tank destroyer with a limited turret traverse arc. The design was greatly influenced by promising advancements in German vehicles, and there were plans to incorporate design elements from both American and German vehicles. The vehicle was supposed to be equipped with a magazine loading system that had already been successfully implemented in naval artillery. Another unique feature of the vehicle was the placement of the driver in the turret with limited gun traverse. Eventually, work on this tank destroyer was suspended due to its dependence on its conceptual predecessor. All activity on the MBT-70 was canceled, leading to the discontinuation of the conceptual design, and the vehicle was never built.
The Controcarro 1 Mk. 2 leads to the Controcarro 3 Minotauro.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Top gun is hard hitting
- Well armoured
- Good hitpoint pool
- Good gun depression at -10 degrees
Cons:
- Sluggish and slow to turn
- Long intraclip reload
- Acuuracy leaves more to be desired
- Stock gun is underwhelming; upgrade as soon as possible
Performance
The tank functions well as an Assault Tank Destroyer due to its armour and hard-hitting top tier gun. At 490 per shot, the 4 round clip could net you a potential of 1960 damage which is something no one would be able to ignore. While the lower glacis is a weak spot, wiggling from side to side can result in enemies bouncing (however, do not rely on this too much as they can simply place a shot into your side).
It is not a fast tank, nor can it turn swiftly. Hence, avoid going in alone for enemy tanks can circle you. While each shot for the top gun does impressive amounts of damage (the 120mm gun is decent too at 400 per shot), the intraclip reload can be an issue as savvy enemies can peek and shoot before your next shell is ready. In addition, the upgraded guns (both the 120 and 127mm) are somewhat inaccurate, so sniping is not THAT feasible. If high penetration premium shells are fired against you, the entire lower and upper glacis does not stand up to it much, as well as the armour just below the gun itself.
Play this TD as a hulldown and ensure that there are teammates with you, and you ought to do fine.
