The Prototipo Standard B is an Italian tier 9 medium tank.
This vehicle is one of the prototypes developed and built under the Kampfpanzer Standard program (which Italy joined in 1958) with the cooperation of Ingenieurbüro Warneke, Rheinstahl Hanomag, Henschel and Rheinmetall. After comprehensive trials, the prototypes of the A group were preferred over other variants, further work on which led to the production of the Leopard 1. In 1960, a total of two prototypes were manufactured.
The Prototipo Standard B leads to the Progetto M40 mod. 65.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Good gun comparable to the Leopard Prototype, only minor difference in alpha damage and accuracy,
- And on top of that, it's autoreloaded with 3-round clip
- Mobility is even better than the Leopard Prototype due to less weight
- Smaller and more rounded silhouette than the Leopards, especially on turret
- Appreciable large ammo stock, sufficient for elongated engagements
- Relatively easy stock grind with competitive gun, also top turret and engine actually shaves off weight
Cons:
- Insignificant protection all around, the same as Leopards
- Refilling a clip from empty takes horribly long considering its size
- A bit low view range by tier IX standard
- Top turret grants generous gun depression of 10° when facing front or sides, but none on the rear arc
- In contrast to all other 105mm medium tank guns this one only has a 360 instead of 390 alpha damage
Performance
The Prototipo B behaves much like the Leopard PTA. It carries nearly the same gun just being slightly less accurate, but packing the same penetration with 268mm. Therefore you will only rarely need to fire premium rounds. Due to the fact that the prototipo B has no armor to speak of you need to play careful. The 1.700 hp are gone very fast, miracle bounces do happen, but only on ridgelines. If you can make use of the 10° of gun depression you can peek, fire your 3 rounds and go back into hiding.
The Prototipo B plays slightly different from the Progetto 46 and the P44 Panterra. The Progetto 46 has a 2 second delay between rounds, the Panterra 2.5 and the Prototipo B has 3 seconds delay. This helps in many cases because you will not try to fire your whole magazine forcing you to reload for about 28 seconds.
If you see an enemy that has around 1.000 hp or less you can try to clip him but keep in mind that you will be reloading for a long time after doing so so look for a place to hide in advance. If you find yourself in a close quarter fight do not empty your magazine unless it is obvious that you will not survive. Just firing the first shell keeps your dpm up and raises your chances of survival.
Early Research
First of all the 105mm Tier X gun needs to be researched. It allows for a much higher clip potential. Following this research either the top turret for the 10° gun depression or the engine. With the stock engine the Prototipo B behaves very sluggish. Radio and tracks are only needed if you wish to elite the tank. The stock suspension can carry all modules.
