The O-Ni is a Japanese tier 7 heavy tank.
A further development of the O-I with improved anti-tank guns. The military command's plan was to improve the earlier models and achieve a higher level of armor protection on the vehicle. Existed only in blueprints. No finished prototypes were built and the vehicle never saw action.
Also known as "Onii-san" (thanks to anime influence), The O-Ni represents a fairly significant change in attributes from the previous O-I. In addition to being quite a lot lighter (100 tons compared to 150 tons O-I) but also having bit worse top speed than its predecessor, it has to contend with the added weak points of its frontal turrets and the corner cheeks of its armor layout. This makes angling and side-scrapping much less effective than in previous tanks. It also sports some of the worst camo values in the game which, combined with its still large size, make it an easy target for SPG fire. On the other hand, its frontal armor still remains impressive for its tier and it also has the largest HP pool out of any Tier VII. While it still retains the previous tank's 15cm cannon, the O-Ni has improved reloading time. The O-Ni also gains the ability to use the improved 10cm gun which can easily devastate most tanks you will face in battle. The O-Ni is best played as a second-line support tank that always keeps the enemy team directly in front so as to avoid any damage to the relatively weak side armor, while also allowing you to pull back during your reloads.
The O-Ni leads to the O-Ho.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Very durable front & rear armor and highest HP pool in its tier (1550).
- Choice of two viable guns; the 15cm carried from O-I with faster reload time or 10cm gun with high penetration.
- Strong main turret and great gun depression are decent for hull down.
- Surprisingly good engine power to weight ratio results in good acceleration for its size, great for ramming.
- Great view range for its tier.
- Easy stock grind as most modules except improved 10cm and tracks are carried over from O-I, doesn't have additional turret to research and doesn't need tracks to equip modules apart from improved 10cm.
Cons:
- As O-Ni has the very largest side shilouette and worst camoflage value out of all tanks in the entire game it is extremely easy target for hit for pretty much anything, especially SPGs!
- Poor overall mobility.
- Very weak and huge side armor combined with mini-turrets & cheek weakspots makes armor unreliable, especially when angled.
- Both guns have poor accuracy, aim time and DPM.
- Ammorack is large and easily damaged.
Performance
The O-Ni is the next step towards the end of the Japanese Heavy tank Line. Having the most hit points at tier 7 (1550 hitpoints), it can take a lot of punishment and still fight back. The choice of two top guns is the same as on the previous tank, the O-I, with a small increase in accuracy & rate of fire. Much like all Japanese Heavies, the O-Ni feels right at home in the city, where it can use cover to hide its numerous weakspots and safely complete the long reloads. However, you need to take extreme care when sidescraping as your side armor is very thin and easily penetrated when over-angled, especially at the drivewheel. On top of that, the hull has angled "cheeks" which further inhibit the ability to sidescrape as angling will decrease their angle. Not only are the miniturrets weakspots, they also get in the way of the O-Ni's 10 degrees of gun depression, decreasing it to 9 degrees when aiming directly above them.
Early Research
Once you get the tank, you can choose to buy both the engine and 15cm derp inherited from the O-I. The 15cm is a good gun, but had lower damage on higher tiers. If you want to penetrate higher tiers, you'll want to research the Experimental 10cm as soon as you can, however, you cannot fit it on the stock suspension along with the upgraded engine and radio.

Historical Info
The "O-Ni" is based on misconceptions of the O-I super-heavy tank. Post-war speculations about the mysterious O-I resulted in that it was commonly accepted that there were at least two variants of the tank:

- 120 ton O-I, 4 turrets, built in 1944 and shipped to Manchuria. (known in-game as "O-Ho")
The 100 ton O-I supposedly mounted a 105 mm gun on it's main turret and have mini-turrets on front.

Historical Accuracy Errata
* O-Ni is based on the drawings from the book “Imperial Japanese Army Ground Weapon Guide 1872-1945”; those drawings in return are based on a very early sketch of the O-I super-heavy tank, combined together with false information and rumors like usage of 10 cm Type 92 gun. As the drawings of "O-I 100t" are very inaccurate represation of the O-I, it is safe to say that the O-Ni, the way it is in-game, never existed, not even as a project.
- In-game name is incorrect. The name "O-Ni" means "fourth (super) heavy tank". There is however no third super-heavy design, as the O-I was the first and the Type 4/5 (O-Ro/O-Ro Kai) was the second design. If the O-Ni actually existed, a more realistic designation would be "O-I II" (as the both O-I 100t and O-I 120t (O-Ho) are based on designs that were earlier designs than the O-Ro, they most likely would have been referred as "altnerate" designs to the O-I - O-I 100t and O-I 120t as O-I II and O-I III, respectively).
- The vehicle was referred as O-I 100t or just O-I 100 on the book. If the vehicle actually existed, and assuming the Type 4/5 was known as "O-Ro", the O-I 100/O-Ni would likely have been referred with names like "O-I II"
