The AMR 35 is a French tier 2 premium light tank.
A light reconnaissance tank developed by Renault. A total of 200 vehicles with different modifications were produced from 1936 through 1940. This tank fought in the early stages of WWII. After the capitulation of France, the majority of these vehicles were captured by the Germans and converted into self-propelled vehicles with 8 cm mortars.
The AMR 35 is a very good passive scout and sniper. It has good view range, firepower, and concealment but is fragile and has poor acceleration.
Gifted to all players during the Holiday Ops 2020 event.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Accurate gun, good penetration, with excellent rate of fire and gun depression
- Small profile with good concealment
- Excellent transmission, good top speed once it gets going; very good reverse speed
Cons:
- Aim time is slower than the gun's reload time
- Poor alpha
- No HE shells available
- Paper thin armor
- Only two crew makes it easier to be knocked out
- Engine has poor specific power, giving weak acceleration
Performance
The AMR 35 performs well when played as a sniper. Use its quick-firing and accurate gun to whittle down enemies from a distance. It has the penetration to have at least a 50-50 chance to hurt the tougher Tier II tanks (H35, etc.) and with special ammo can take on enemy Tier III's. But aim time is too slow to keep up with the gun's rate of fire, which means losing accuracy when firing at the gun's maximum rate -- at longer ranges you might wait until the aim circle has stopped shrinking before firing.
The tank suffers against those with machine guns or autocannon due to its paper-thin armor -- do what you can you keep your distance from them, most-all of these guns have poor accuracy and at long distances can't hurt you nearly as much -- or at all -- giving you time to run and/or take cover. And with only two crew members the tank can be knocked out with no one left to activate a First Aid Kit.
The tank has a good top speed but its acceleration is sluggish, limiting its effective top speed.
With just a Commander and Driver the AMR 35 is crew-compatible with another premium French light -- the AM Gedron. Non-premium crews which will work in either tank can come from the AMX ELC bis, AMX 38, FCM 36, FT, H35, and the R35.
Early Research
The AMR 35 is complete with everything already researched.
Documented Tank and Crew Builds
The AMR 35 makes a good sniper and passive scout; both missions pretty much demand mounting a Binocular Telescope. For a pure sniper build an Enhanced Gun Laying Drive might be preferred to bring aim time below reloading time, so every shot is at maximum accuracy without having to sacrifice rate of fire or having to think about firing the moment the gun is fully aimed-in.
The tank is arguably the best Tier II passive scout in the game. If one excludes tanks (not necessarily just lights!) with low accuracy (that can't be improved to at least .40), poor penetration (less than 65mm pen using special ammo), those without long range guns (i.e. greater than 400m range), and low view range (less than 310 meters base), the AMR 35 comes out on top with the best top speed, across-the-board concealment, view range, and signal range. With the right equipment and perks you get up to 430m of view range and 444m signal range while still having the firepower and concealment to play sniper later in the battle; lighting up enemies for your team as necessary.
