The M3 Light is a Soviet tier 3 premium light tank.
The M3 light tank was created in 1938–1941 on the basis of the M2 and entered the mass production in 1941. A total of 13,000 vehicles of different modifications were produced (from M3 to M3A3) and supplied almost to all Allies under Lend-Lease. From 1942 through 1943, 1,232 M3 Stuart vehicles were sent to the U.S.S.R. They were first used in the battle for the Barvenkovo bulge near Kharkov in May 1942.
It was previously available to new players for completing the in-game training course. Codes for this tank for the EU server were also handed out by Wargaming at Tankfest 2013 and HM Fest 2014 (in Hungary). It's slightly better than a stock M3 Stuart but inferior to one that's been fully upgraded. Even so don't underestimate this tank, as it still has decent top speed and a fast-firing cannon.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Excellent top speed
- Good turret traverse speed and elevation arc
- Good rate of fire
- Very good frontal armor for light tank, immune to most machine guns and autocannons (except weak spots like driver's hatch)
- Makes a good amount of credits (for a Tier III premium)
Cons:
- Poor damage and penetration
- Poor view and signal range
- Inferior to the regular M3 Stuart in penetration and mobility
Performance
The short signal range and poor view range makes it less beneficial as a scout than it otherwise could be. However it's an effective flanker and has a fast-firing cannon but low penetration, so shooting at the sides of enemy tanks is a must.
The M3 Light has a crew setup of Commander (Loader)/Driver/Gunner/Radio Operator, making it crew-compatible with only one other Soviet premium light: the BT-SV. Only one non-premium is crew-compatible: the A-20 -- your A-20 crew can be used for all three tanks without penalty.
