The Progetto M35 is entirely a Wargaming fabrication, though it does use similar aesthetic and design rules to the late-war and post-war Italian prototype designs. | |

The Progetto M35 mod. 46 is an Italian tier 8 premium medium tank.
Conceptualization of a draft design developed at the request of General Francesco Rossi who believed that only light vehicles weighing up to 35 tons would be effective in a new war. Such an innovative design was not approved; development was discontinued when Italy joined the Standard Tank project.
Most are somewhat familiar with how autoloaders work in WoT - basically like a revolver that has to be emptied and then refilled completely (though one does not have to fire all shells). The Progetto, along with its T8-10 techtree peers, instead features an autoreloader, which refills the clip as long as you do not fire, with 'refill' times becoming progessively longer for each shell fired.
Needless to say, this makes the Progretto way less situational than autoloaders, while also introducing opportunistic gameplay into the mix. This requires little effort to get used to - as long as you are able to wait for a loaded gun it's a perfectly viable single-shooter.

- Good view range
Cons:
- DPM worsens the more the magazine is expended
- Virtually unarmored
- Poor camouflage
- Subpar shell velocity
- Low ammo capacity
Performance
Currently, the Progetto 46 is almost universally recognized as the best Tier 8 Premium Medium tank, if not the strongest Tier 8 overall.
Much of this is due to its gun and its unique mechanic, the autoreloader. Rather than having to reload the clip, it reloads round by round, even when the clip isn't empty. This means a shot can be fired without concern of being empty-handed if a target charges. However, the downside is that the more shots are fired from the clip (3 shells total) the longer it takes to reload a shell. This means dumping the clip and then firing with the first shot leaves the DPM extremely low (albeit it is pretty decent when firing only the third shot). The sheer versatility and threat of being able to be a single shooter and clip when needed allows it to dish out a very large chunk of damage.
Using it isn't too difficult, as although its hp/t is somewhat low for its top speed (~18 hp/t and 55 km/h) it has great ground resistances, meaning acceleration is not a problem. This allows it to flank when necessary, or relocate when it is too dangerous. It also has -9 gun depression, and while the turret armor is very poor (albeit mostly proof from HE pens) it allows it to use hilly terrain effectively.
Its concealment is poor, but the view range is decent at 390 meters.
It does have its downsides, though. Like the vast majority of Tier 8, it struggles against highly armored vehicles, or higher tiered heavy tanks in general, especially without the usage of premium shells. It also has an only average damage of 240 per shot, with a 720 clip, which is generally lower than the majority of autoloaders at tier. As it is also technically an autoloader, it reloads the entire magazine when switching shells, resetting its clip and vastly lowering its DPM until it is fully reloaded. Its shell velocity with AP is also rather poor, at 929 m/s. Lastly, due to its strengths, and very poor armor, it is a priority target, and thus receives lots of attention when spotted.
Overall, it is a very strong vehicle, and continues to be one. Always be careful, though; if the reloader is low on shells in the magazine, the DPM is exceedingly poor, leaving it hard to defend itself when combined with its poor armor.
