Aviere — Italian Tier VI destroyer.
The Soldati class was the most numerous class of Italian destroyers. During construction, they received a number of changes and improvements compared to the previous Oriani class, including the installation of a new 120 mm gun and a more reliable propulsion unit. Between 1940 and 1942, Aviere participated in minelaying and conducted patrol and escort missions to Africa. On December 17, 1942, while escorting a convoy to Bizerte, she received a torpedo hit by British submarine HMS Splendid. As a result, she broke in two and sank.
First available in Early Access with Update 0.11.2 on 16 March 2022. Formally released as a researchable tech tree ship with Update 0.11.4 on 18 May 2022.

The Ship
Aviere is the Tier VI tech tree Italian destroyer. She maintains many of the close quarters characteristics of her predecessor Maestrale with stronger main armament and torpedoes. Her hull is comparable in speed, hitpoints, and armament to other gun oriented destroyers of her tier.
Her base speed is 38 knots with a 570m turn circle. Her rudder shift time is 5 seconds and hitpoint pool is 11,900; both can be improved using the Hull upgrade module to 3.6 seconds and 14,300 respectively. It is recommended the hit point total be further increased to 16,400 with Survivability Expert. Her base detectability is 7.1km which can be brought down to 6.4km using Concealment Expert, less than torpedo oriented destroyers of her tier but comparable to hybrid and gun boat destroyers.
Armament
Aviere uses 6x 120 mm/50 Ansaldo Model 1937 guns which retain ‘’Maestrale’s’’ shell ballistics and trajectory. She has access to the both HE and Semi-Armor Piercing (SAP) shells as standard for the Italian Destroyer line. SAP shells have higher alpha damage and can penetrate thicker plating than standard HE shells, but cannot light fires and will ricochet at steep angles. Her HE shells deal 1700 damage with a 7% fire chance. Her SAP shells deal 2850 damage, which is among the highest damage of any Tier VI destroyer shell .
Her main guns have a base reload of 7.1 seconds which give her HE shells below average damage per minute values. However, her damage per minute with SAP shells is among the best. Her high SAP shell damage can surprise enemies by dealing large amounts of damage upon first contact. Her main battery firing angles are decent, especially toward the rear, and she can keep all of her guns on target at sharp angles. Aviere has the shortest main battery gun range of any destroyer at her tier with 6.3 km base firing range. Taking the SDT 6 mod.2 Gun Fire Control System module is highly recommended, to increase her firing range to 6.9km. Keeping at least 3 guns on target is easy as her center turret can rotate 360 degrees.
She is also armed with two triple torpedo launchers. Her stock torpedoes are identical to Maestrale's upgraded ones, while her upgraded torpedoes have a 8 km range and deal up to 10,000 damage. Her torpedoes have a speed of 56 knots and a base reload of 80 seconds. Despite their long range, these torpedoes will struggle against healthy battleships and cruisers with large healthpools due to their light damage. But they are still potent against other destroyers, smaller cruisers, and damaged enemies.
Consumables
Aviere carries the Exhaust Smoke Generator and Emergency Engine Power consumables. The Exhaust Smoke Generator allows her to sail at full speed during the entire deployment duration while remaining concealed, but it has the shortest dispersion time in the game. Each smoke cloud will disappear after 10 seconds, making the smoke useful only while currently deploying smoke. Her Emergency Engine Power is similar to the normal Engine Boost consumable found on many other destroyers, but gives a 25% increase in speed for 25 seconds. This can be increased to 26 seconds using the Engine Boost Modification 1 upgrade. While using her Emergency Engine Power she can reach 47.5 knots, temporarily making her the fastest destroyer at the tier.
Anti-Aircraft
Aviere carries short and mid range anti-aircraft armament when using the upgraded hull, but her stock hull only has short ranged AAA. She lacks long range AAA, precluding her from utilizing flak bursts. Her short ranged AAA continuous damage is 85 with 2.0 km of firing range. Her mid range AAA continuous damage is 49 with 3.5km of firing range. By the time they start firing, most CVs will have already launched their strikes and/or engagement times will be short. Due to the mediocre effectiveness of her AAA, many players may opt to disengage it to reduce the likelihood of detection, especially when facing higher tier enemy aircraft.
Battle Performance
Aviere serves the role of an ambush predator that can use her consumables to get out of trouble more easily than other destroyers. Her limited main battery range encourages captains to take her into knife fighting range to engage enemy vessels while using her high damage SAP shells. Captains can use either her Exhaust Smoke Generator or Emergency Engine Power to retreat from the area during disadvantageous situations. Captains should use her as a mix of an opportunistic knife fighter when engaging enemy destroyers and a long range torpedo boat launching frequently at cruisers and battleships. Her smoke generator has a small number of charges that mostly limit it to being used as a defensive tool for escape.
In matches lacking enemy radar, captains should press into capture points early before breaking off to support in the capture of other zones as necessary. Frequently launch torpedoes at large and/or unsuspecting targets and focus fire on low health opponents when possible. Captains should ideally focus on removing enemy destroyers from play by launching strikes and making use of consumables to disengage. This allows captains to dictate the engagements more effectively and allow for skilled captains to make use of map features to their advantage.Pros:
- High SAP shell damage
- Good firing angles on main batteries and torpedoes
- Long torpedo range
- Exhaust Smoke Generator allows concealment at full speed
- Emergency Engine Power provides a large boost to speed when needed
Cons:
- Short base main gun range
- Poor vertical dispersion on her guns
- Low torpedo damage and flood chance
- Ineffective AA suite
- Short consumable duration with longer cooldown
Research
Researchable upgrades for Aviere:
- Hull: Upgrade to Hull (B) for improved survivability, AAA, and maneuverability. Research of this module unlocks progression to Luca Tarigo.
- Gun Fire Control System: Upgrade to SDT 6 mod.2 for an extra 10% range on the main battery.
- Torpedoes: Upgrade to Si 270 M1 for fish with with a slightly more powerful warhead.
Optimal Configuration
Aviere should be tailored toward improving her firepower and maneuverability. Her torpedoes have more limits and should hold less priority than her guns.
Upgrades
The recommended upgrades are:
- Slot 1: Main Armaments Modification 1
- Slot 2: Engine Room Protection or Engine Boost Modification 1
- Slot 3: Aiming Systems Modification 1
- Slot 4: Propulsion Modification 1
Commander Skills
Consumables
Aviere equips the following consumables:
- Slot 1: Damage Control Party
- Slot 2: Exhaust Smoke Generator – 3 charges
- Slot 3: Emergency Engine Power – 4 charges
