Piemonte — Italian Tier ★ cruiser.
During the 1930s, the Italian company Ansaldo presented the Soviet Union with a collection of drawings, which included a blueprint for a battlecruiser with a displacement of 22,000 tons. The ship was to carry an armament of nine 10-inch guns and feature a four-shaft layout with 60,000 hp per shaft, which would allow the ship to reach a speed of 37 knots. After the outbreak of World War II, the unfinished ship would be requisitioned by the Italian government, with the battlecruiser receiving Italian armament.
Piemonte was first released for sale on DD MMM YYYY.

Piemonte is the supership of the Italian heavy cruiser tech tree. She shares similar characteristics to Venezia, with improvements to both armor and gun caliber.
Armament:
Piemonte carries twelve 254 mm guns in four triple turrets. These guns have a range of 17.8 km and a 21-second base reload. Piemonte’s turrets have a 180-degree turn time of 25.7 seconds.
Due to their large caliber, these guns can overmatch the 16 mm plating commonly found on superlight cruisers like Minotaur and Jinan. Her AP shells are identical to those found on Napoli, with 6,150 alpha and decent ballistics. Her SAP shells have high alpha damage and can penetrate 67 mm armor plating, but cannot light fires and will also ricochet at sharp angles. Due to these characteristics, SAP should be the primary choice, with AP used situationally against overmatchable targets and vulnerable broadsides.
Piemonte’s torpedoes are the same ones found on Napoli. Her launchers are positioned centerline with four torpedoes per launcher, but a longer 95 second reload. These torpedoes are quite slow, with a long 13.5 km range and low detectability. Despite their slow speed, their low detectability leaves enemies with little time to react. While these torpedoes lack high alpha damage, their fast reload time and long range complement Piemonte’s kiting play style.
Hull:
Piemonte has a large health pool of 61,400 and a fast base speed of 37 knots. Her maneuverability is decent, with a 12.7-second rudder shift and an 810 meter turning radius. Her concealment is average, with a minimum concealment of 12.5 km.
Although she follows Venezia, Piemonte is visually more similar to Tier X cruiser Napoli. Her armor scheme is similar to Napoli’s, with the same 40 mm deck that can shrug off AP salvos. Her side armor is also 40 mm, and can bounce any battleship AP shell when sufficiently angled. However, her citadel is easier to punish when showing broadside. While she has a 40 mm icebreaker, her upper bow and stern plating is only 25 mm, which can be overmatched by 380 mm AP shells or larger.
Consumables:
Piemonte has access to the Exhaust Smoke Generator consumable. The smoke screen lasts 40 s and conceals the ship even at full speed, with a long cooldown of 180 s. Piemonte has a smoke firing penalty of 11.2 km and should avoid firing when enemy ships are within that range to remain concealed.
Piemonte has access to the Repair Party consumable, with three charges that each heal up to 14% of her maximum HP. She also has access to the Submarine Surveillance consumable.
Piemonte does not get access to the Spotting Aircraft or Catapult Fighter consumable.
Anti-Aircraft:
Like other Italian ships, Piemonte’s AA defenses are relatively poor. Her AA range is 5.2 km and only produces 3 flak. Her high mid-range DPS of 588 can shoot down planes, but cannot stop strikes entirely. Sticking with allied ships to overlap anti-aircraft auras is recommended in games with carriers.
Battle Performance:
Piemonte is an alpha strike focused cruiser best played at medium to long ranges. This is best achieved through open water kiting, where she can utilize her good agility to dodge shells from longer ranges. Her stronger armor scheme allows her to bait and bounce enemy AP shells on her belt at closer ranges as well.
Her high alpha SAP shells are best utilized on enemy superstructures and pennable belt and side armor. Due to how the high SAP alpha damage saturates HP sections quickly, her damage output will drop significantly once a section saturates. Enemy destroyers are also prime targets for her SAP shells as they cannot overpenetrate and will deal massive damage with just a few hits
Overall, Piemonte plays the same kiting role as Venezia, with different armaments and increased armor plating. With fewer barrels and a longer reload time, she is even more focused on the alpha strike of her guns.Pros:
- Good health pool
- 40 mm deck and main belt armor
- SAP shells with high alpha
- Long range torpedoes with low detection
- High top speed
- Good maneuverability
- Access to Exhaust Smoke Generator
Cons:
- Long main battery reload time
- Poor anti-aircraft defenses
- Poor concealment
- High smoke firing penalty
- Does not get access to Spotting Aircraft or Catapult Fighter
- SAP shells lose effectiveness if they cannot penetrate or hit saturated areas
