Paolo Emilio — Italian premium Tier IX destroyer.

After the beginning of naval cooperation between Italy and the U.S.S.R., the Ansaldo company prepared a number of ship designs under Soviet orders. An armored scout with a standard displacement of 3,700 tons was among them. The ship had high speed, eight 130 mm guns in four mounts, and armor protection in the form of a full-fledged armored belt and armored deck.

Paolo Emilio was first released for sale on 30 Sep 2020.

Pros:

Good main battery ballistics - high shell velocity and flat arcs
Has access to both SAP and HE shells
Heavy torpedo armament of three quadruple launchers with high damage and flood chance, and good speed
Has a 60mm thick armor belt, can shatter most HE shells and, with the right angling, bounce AP shells
Very high ship speed, aided by a unique Emergency Engine Power  consumable
Uses the Exhaust Smoke Generator  found on Italian cruisers, can stay hidden even at full speed
Second largest healthpool in its class, only bested by Harugumo

Cons:

Very poor main battery rate of fire
Short main battery range
Does not have access to AP shells
Torpedoes are short-ranged and have a slow reload speed
Fairly weak AA defenses, vulnerable to plane attacks
Large turn radius and sluggish rudder shift
Both Exhaust Smoke Generator  and Emergency Engine Power  have short duration and long cooldown
