Devastation — British Tier ★ battleship.
A ship that embodies all the ideas of the British shipbuilding school of the 1940s concerning battleships unconstrained by the limits of the Washington Naval Treaty. The general structure layout is close to battleship Vanguard, and the power plant is similar to the one used on the Audacious-class aircraft carriers.
Devastation was first released for sale on DD MMM YYYY.

Summary
Devastation is the final entry in the British battleship line, building off of the strengths and weaknesses of her predecessor Conqueror, she features a low detectability, fast rudder shift, and high fire chance. Her main upgrade over Conqueror is her main battery, gaining an additional barrel in each turret, bringing her main battery to 16 419 mm guns.
Armor
One of the main weaknesses to Devastation is her armor layout. Like Conqueror, Devastation is mainly protected by 32mm plating on the bow, stern, upper belt, and deck. While this is not much of an issue for Conqueror at tier X, Devastation commonly matches against Satsuma, which overmatches 32mm, causing significant damage to Devastation in most salvos. Unlike Conqueror, Devastation does feature a small 63mm icebreaker along the waterline, as well as a 51mm armor plate on the stern. Devastation’s 432mm plated citadel is fairly easy to hit, running along the waterline from the first to fourth turret. Above the citadel is an equally plated belt to protect against lighter caliber shots. The mid sized superstructure is plated in 19mm, standard for most ships in the game and subject to small caliber fire.
Devastation is not a ship meant for brawling, players should utilize her impressive range and low 13.11km detection to stay at range and get out of enemy fire
Armament
One of Devastation’s distinguishing features is her main armament. She is one of the slowest reloading super battleships at 33.44 seconds with Main Battery Modification 3 , and is in the middle of the pack when it comes to her 24.5km range. Like most super battleships, Devastation retains the same size guns as her predecessor at 419mm. However, she carries an additional barrel in each turret, raising the total main armament to 16 guns. The shells themselves retain the same characteristics as Conqueror, with the AP shells having an alpha of 13000 HP of damage per shell. Players should be well versed in the advantages and disadvantages of the british battleship short fuse AP by the time they obtain Devastation, and should use the lighter penetration to their advantage when shooting broadside ships with lighter armor. The HE shells have an alpha of 7200 with a 48% fire chance, like the rest of the british battleship line, Devastation excels at setting fires. The downside of Devastation’s main battery is the sigma at 1.7, causing her shells to spread out over a fairly large area. This is mitigated by the shell volume, but there will be salvoes that result in few hits on the target.
Anti-Aircraft
When it comes to AA capabilities, Devastation sits roughly in the middle of the pack of super battleships. Like most super battleships, Devastation’s maximum AA range is 6km. However, the damage output of Devastation at long range is quite low, with the long range batteries dealing a low damage of 74 continuous damage and only 4 flak explosions, dealing 1610 damage to boost it. The rest of the AA battery on Devastation stems from her mid range battery as she has no short range batteries. Her mid range artillery has a maximum range of 4 km, and deals an impressive 823 continuous damage. With the lack of short range defenses, Devastation will perform fine defending against lower tier aircraft, but will struggle against super carriers and should stay near friendly forces for combined anti air batteries.
Battle Performance
Devastation is best played at mid to long range due to her light armor layout and low HP. When compared to other super battleships, Devastation’s 99800 HP is the lowest at the tier. The light armor and low HP does not mean Devastation is incapable of tanking damage however, as she is equipped with Specialized Repair Teams, which allows her to heal 2395 HP per second for 22 seconds. When fully specced for survivability with signal flags and commander skills, Devastation can heal up to 52690 HP, over half of her total HP. Another advantage to Devastation is her detectability. She is the stealthiest super battleship, with her best concealment being 13.11km. With the high capacity repair and low detectability, Devastation is able to effectively tank for her flank by absorbing damage to take the focus off of friendly ships, then go dark and heal up a majority of her HP. Devastation is also fairly nimble for her size, featuring a quick 18.9 second rudder shift and 1020m turning radius. Pairing her maneuverability with her concealment, Devastation can effectively push around islands to ambush enemy ships in unfavorable positions.
Overall Devastation is an effective mid to long range battleship, using her high fire chance to melt enemy ships while being able to outheal any ship that fires at it. Her quick maneuverability, low detectability, and decent turning circle allow for mid to late game pushes to turn the tide of a flank in Devastation’s favor. While HE is the preferred ammo choice for prolonged engagements, the short fused AP can wreak havoc on broadsides, with an extra emphasis on lightly armed targets that might otherwise be overpenned by normal battleship AP shells.Pros:
- Short fuse AP meaning less overpenetrations
- Low detectability
- Access to Specialized Repair Teams
- High (48%) fire chance
Cons:
- Weak Armor
- 1.7 sigma
- Long (38 second base) reload
