Marlborough — British special premium Tier IX battleship.
One of the options to use as a basis for designing the Lion-class battleships was project 14B/38. It had sixteen 356 mm guns in four turrets and was developed in case the new 406 mm gun proved to be unsuccessful. The use of 356 mm guns would have sped up the construction of the Lion-class battleships, but this idea wasn't followed through.
Marlborough was first available for completing all 32 Stages of the Clydebank Dockyard on 08 December 2021.

Player Opinion
Performance
Refer to the in-game Port screens for more useful data.
The Marlborough is a demanding ship to play with very light armour and exposed citadel for its class and rank. Its 14-inch guns (356mm) will see its AP broadside overmatched even against lower tier vessels. In a straight shootout with any battleship (including lower tier) or high level cruisers, players may find themselves trading poorly.
The Marlborough does however benefit from a modestly larger health pool than is typical for its tier to resist withering fire from HE, as well as a faster rudder shift common to premium Tier IX ships. It also boasts an impressive 16 guns in an 8 front 8 back configuration and a rapid 25 second reload.
Players should avoid exposing their broadside at all costs even to equal tier cruisers, this will involve sacrificing the ability to bring all 16 guns to bear due to extremely poor gun angles common to many British higher tier battleships. However due to having 8 guns front and back, players will still have an competitive 8 guns while allowing for optimum angling to reduce incoming damage.
Players should focus on using HE at long range particularly in the early phase of the game to start fires. The low calibre of the main battery makes AP at range extremely inefficient with very high incident of ricochet even against cruisers. AP should be used only for closer range exchanges when broadside is exposed, when the shell is not dependant on arching fire to punch through armour. A half salvo of 8 AP rounds even from the Marlborough's light guns can do significant damage at short range when you can guarantee a high hit rate, and if you're lucky can penetrate the citadel.
A 25 second reload allows for very rapid shell switching if taken with "Gun Feeder" (-50% time to switch shell) and "Main Battery Modification 3" (-12% main battery reload), which reduces a reloaded shell switch to just 9 seconds and volley time to 22 seconds to assist in optimum shell usage at all times. Proper shell usage may find a playing equally splitting their damage 50/50 between AP and HE through a game.Pros:
- Sixteen (16) main guns
- Very quick main battery reload speed (25 seconds unmodified)
- Improved HE penetration (89mm)
- Good speed and rudder shift for a Tier 9 battleship
- Great concealment when fully upgraded, as low as 12.1km
Cons:
- Slow main battery traverse and very poor firing arcs
- Main battery accuracy is overall bad
- Small gun caliber, cannot overmatch 25mm or thicker armor with AP shells
- Very poor durability for a battleship - weak external armor and massive, exposed citadel block
- No access to aviation or utility consumables
