Hawke — British Tier VIII battleship.
After World War I, the British Admiralty continued working on new battlecruiser projects. The most modern ship of this class—Hood—was used as the basis for these projects during the design process. In 1920, two projects were presented—K2 and K3—but they were deemed too large. A proposal was made to reduce the caliber to 406 mm, which would help reduce the dimensions, but the Admiralty rejected this idea, and the project failed to be implemented.

Player Opinion
Performance
Refer to the in-game Port screens for more useful data.
Tier VIII Hawke continues the same playstyle found on the british battlecruiser line, bringing much of the same advantages and disadvantages as her predecessor Rooke, but with a higher main battery caliber of 406mm with longer range, better HE fire chance and greater AP damage while sacrificing a small amount of velocity and dispersion.
Hawke does not have the typically poor hit point pool common to her line, but the improvement is largely irrelevant given how poor her armor is and the high likelihood of being overmatched by virtually any ship in her matchmaking spread. Hawke players will find that it's very easy to get badly hurt when trading shots, encouraging you to play her more akin to a heavy cruiser than a battleship. Her high speed and low concealment range for a battleship means Hawke is in her element fighting at the very edge of her concealment range, using her agility to dip in and out of engagements as necessary. Like her predecessors, Hawke is ideal for pushing a crumbling flank, creating disorganization with her good concealment and high speed by pushing aggressively against an ill-prepared opponent.
Despite these advantages, players should always be vary of over-committing as Hawke is a very fragile ship, no matter how good her hit point pool looks. It is easy to be lulled into a false sense of survivability when looking at her high hit points and large number of repair party consumables. Caution is highly advised, one should always be ready to pull back and re-enter concealment frequently to reposition and recover hit points while keeping the enemy guessing as to your location by moving around rapidly.
Overall Hawke maintains the tradition of british battlecruisers by being a quick, feisty attacker capable of severely punishing a poorly constructed defensive line, but requires very skillful commitment to avoid putting yourself in a suicidal position by over-estimating your durability.Pros:
- High top speed at 32 knots which can reach over 37 knots with the Engine Boost consumable.
- Great rudder shift time that can be reduced to 12.9 seconds with the Steering Gears Modification 1 .
- Excellent concealment for a battleship that can be brought as low as 11.8 km.
- Accurate 16-inch main battery with shortfuse AP.
- One of the highest hit point pools of her tier at 70,600 when equipped with her B hull.
- Main battery HE shells have high fire chance at 45%.
- Powerful AA defense when using Defensive AA Fire consumable.
Cons:
- Extensively covered in 32mm armor, very vulnerable to HE penetrations and AP overmatch.
- Bow and stern armor of only 25mm.
- Only has four torpedoes total, two on each side with long minimum range and poor turning time.
- Large and wide citadel that rises above the waterline.
- Difficult to angle all guns on an enemy without exposing your large and very vulnerable broadside.
