Gnevny — Soviet Tier VI destroyer.
In the summer of 1932, a Soviet Navy delegation visited Italy to see the latest Maestrale-class destroyers. This class was selected as the basis for new Soviet destroyer designs. The technical design was assigned project number 7 and was approved in December 1934. Laid down at Shipyard No. 190 in Leningrad in 1935, Gnevny was commissioned in October 1938. On June 23, 1941, the destroyer was sunk by a German mine barrier.

Player Opinion
Performance
Players who do not have the Gremyaschy and do not know what to expect may find this ship to be a bit of a downgrade from the tier 4 Izyaslav, since the turret traverse, which was not a strong point of the Russian dd line to begin with, hits a new low here. Players who do have the Gremyaschy on the other hand will be surprised to find out that the torpedoes on this ship have only half the range (although they are much faster). You do get higher alpha on your rounds than the Izyaslav though without any decrease to your rate of fire (although you get one less gun).
If you played this far into the line without using free XP, you should be very familiar with the tactics on this ship. Maintain a good distance from your enemies and use your guns. Avoid getting into knife fights with equal or higher tier USN dds, their rate of fire is more than yours at this tier and some hull modules give them more guns / RoF. If an American destroyer is picking a fight with you, hit the speed boost and try to keep him at a range of about 7 to 10 km. Your guns can still hit him at that range while the "rainbow arcs" on his shells will make it difficult for him to hit you. Dealing with any IJN dds (if you can find them) should not be a problem - their guns are worse than yours at any range, just watch out for their torpedos. As for your own torpedoes, you should only use them in ambushes around islands. If you do manage to get close enough to use them though, they will be quite difficult to evade since they are very fast.
The Gnevny is similar but at the same time significantly inferior to premium Gremyaschy in many aspects.
Gremyaschy has better:
- HE damage (1900 vs 1600)
- Fire chance (9% vs 7%)
- Camouflage fire penalty (3.9km vs 5.9km), which allows it to invisifire without Advanced Firing Training, unlike Gnevny.
- Torpedo range (8km vs 4km), which allows Gremy to invisitorp, unlike Gnevny.
- Base surface camo (6.8km vs 7km)
- Rudder shift time (2.7 vs 4.4)
- Turn radius (510 vs 610)
Gnevny only has better speed (38 vs 37) more health (+800) and faster torpedoes (65kn vs 55kn)
The rest is the same: the excellent range, shell arc, shell speed and the horrendous turret rotation (36s)Pros:
- Excellent gun range and ballistics
- Decent chance of fire (7%)
- Improvement in speed over its predecessor
- Torpedoes are much faster and do a lot more damage than its predecessor
Cons:
- Abysmal turret traverse (just like on the Grem)
- Torpedo range is a downgrade from its predecessor
- Slightly bigger detection range than its tier 5 competitors
