Yumihari — Japanese Tier VIII battleship.
After the Russo-Japanese War ended, Japan adopted the Eight-Eight Fleet Program, stipulating that the fleet was supposed to consist of eight battleships and eight high-speed armored cruisers. This plan underwent a number of changes—for example, armored cruisers were replaced with battlecruisers, and the number of ships was reduced. However, after the outbreak of World War I, the construction of new ships began again. The design of a new battlecruiser project was a development of the Kongō class of ships. Later, the project was changed, which resulted in the creation of the Amagi class.
Yumihari was first released for Early Access on 11 October 2023 with Update 12.9.

Tier VIII battleship Yumihari is the start of the Japanese battleship split, featuring weak armor protection and accurate main battery guns with the addition of the High-Precision Spotter consumable.
Armament:
Yumihari carries eight 410 mm guns housed in four twin turrets. These guns have a range of 22.8 km. Her AP shells have decent velocity and can overmatch 27 mm armor, which is present on many cruisers in her matchmaking spread. However, her penetration and alpha damage are low for 410 mm guns. Her HE shells have a 30% fire chance and 68 mm of penetration. It is recommended to fire HE only against angled battleships and destroyers.
Yumihari’s guns are accurate, with good horizontal and vertical dispersion that is nearly identical to Yamato. She has a great sigma of 2.2. Her guns have an average reload of 27 seconds and a slower 45-second 180 degree turn time.
Her good accuracy is further increased with the High-Precision Spotter consumable, which increases her main battery firing range by 10% and decreases maximum dispersion by 10%. The spotter plane only lasts for 55 seconds but has a shorter cooldown of 120 seconds. Due to these characteristics, Yumihari can fire accurate salvos when the best opportunity presents itself and shortly follow up with another spotter plane.
Survivabillity:
Yumihari’s hull is weakly armored, with her bow and stern covered with 25 mm plating. This allows every ship with a gun caliber of 358 mm or higher to overmatch it, which includes most battleships she can face. Her deck armor is not much thicker at 32 mm, which will fail to shatter most cruiser HE shells. Yumihari has a mostly waterline citadel with a slight slope under her front gun mounts. It is better protected than some battleships, but she should still avoid showing broadside in front of battleships.
Her surface concealment is very good, as low as 11.9 km. She has a smaller HP pool of 62,200 and a weak 26.5% torpedo damage reduction. As a result, Yumihari captains should play her at medium and long ranges.
Maneuverability:
Yumihari is a somewhat fast battleship, with a top speed of 31.5 knots with the Sierra Mike combat signal. Her rudder shift time of 15.2 s and her turning radius of 880 m is average.
Anti-Aircraft:
Yumihari’s AA DPS is poor across all ranges. Although her 5.8 km AA range is average, she only produces 5 flak. She also has no mid-range AA, so most attacking aircraft will only face her weaker long-range defenses. She should group up with allied ships to overlap anti-aircraft auras in games with carriers. She only produces 5 flak, and her range is only 5.8 km with low damage. She should group up with allied ships to overlap anti-aircraft auras in games with carriers.
Battle Performance:
Yumihari fills the classic Japanese sniper battleship role, with a couple of interesting features to differentiate her from the others. Her High-Precision Spotter, decent shell velocity, 27 mm overmatch, and great concealment make her ideal for sneaking up to ideal positions and killing cruisers. Against enemy battleships, her guns are average due to her lower penetration and alpha strike.
Yumihari’s 25 mm bow and stern are susceptible to battleship AP overmatch, and she must avoid drawing too much attention to herself. Her low torpedo damage protection means players should not seek close-quarter engagements too early.
Yumihari is best played at medium to long ranges, creating crossfires and applying accurate salvos onto broadside targets. While her speed is not the best, her great concealment allows her to choose engagements and punish enemy ships.Pros:
- Good accuracy
- 27mm overmatch
- Decent speed
- Great concealment
- Access to High-Precision Spotter
Cons:
- Thin, easily overmatched bow and stern plating
- 32mm plating everywhere
- Low HP pool
- Low main battery damage and penetration for their caliber
- Poor AA DPS and low flak count
