Ibuki — Japanese Tier IX cruiser.
Developed from the Mogami-class ships. Ibuki retained the powerful artillery and torpedo armament of her predecessors, but received advanced armor and a reinforced AA system.

Performance
Refer to the in-game Port screens for more useful data.
Ibuki is basically a 'repeat' of the Mogami design that has effectively solved her predecessor's shortcomings if we look at it in the engineering aspect. As a cruiser, she's a more beefy Mogami in most cases.
What you have learned in Mogami, Ibuki capitalizes and her range allows you to gain the initiative in shooting first. Her armour is no slouch as she can take more punishment than her predecessor, although her colleague, the Baltimore, is more durable. It is also worth mentioning that the ABC-XY turret layout, despite having ten guns in five dual-mount turrets, cannot match the Dmitri Donskoi in turrets and barrel number but has a rather heavy broadside for a Tier IX Cruiser which can be used to great effect. Combined with her range and proper usage, due to her rather impressive concealment, she can be a force to be reckoned with in the right hands.Pros:
- Main battery high explosive shells have higher damage and fire chance compared to other cruisers.
- The majority of the ship's turrets are mounted on the bow, allowing her to fire most of her guns without exposing too much of her side.
- Carries a powerful torpedo armament with high speed and good range.
- High top speed and quick rudder shift time allow the ship to dodge long rang fire with ease.
- One of the lowest surface detection of all Tier IX cruisers.
Cons:
- Lowest amount of hit points for a Tier IX cruiser.
- Like Mogami, Ibuki will often suffer citadel hits whenever broadside to any similarly sized ship. This is due to the ship's large citadel which is located partially above the waterline.
- Main Battery turrets have a sluggish reload time and traverse slowly.
- Like her predecessors, the ship's torpedo armament is rear facing. This requires the ship to be broadside or facing away from a target to fire her torpedoes.

Upgrades
The recommended upgrades for Ibuki are as follows:
- Slot 1: Main Armaments Modification 1 keeps the guns and torpedo tubes active and firing.
- Slot 1: Damage Control System Modification 1 makes the ship more resistant to fires and flooding.
- Slot 3: Aiming Systems Modification 1 gives her guns more accuracy. Captains who plan to take Main Battery Modification 3 in Upgrade Slot 6 may with to take Main Battery Modification 2 here instead to improve her turret traverse.
- Slot 4: Steering Gears Modification 1 allows for a faster rudder shift to dodge incoming fire.
- Slot 5: Concealment System Modification 1 decreases the detection range allowing greater stealth.
- Slot 6: For the sixth slot you have a choice: Main Battery Modification 3 speeds up the reload for the guns to 12.6s from 13.7s at the expense of a slower turret traverse. OR Gun Fire Control System Modification 2 increasing the range out to an impressive 19.18km giving the ship an excellent range to shoot targets. Both are viable, and it's up to the captain to decide which to take.
Commander Skills
As was the case with Mogami before her, the skill selection for Ibuki centers around her stealth aspects. Being the first ship in the line to receive a heal, the key skills change slightly from previous ships: Gun Feeder at Level 1, Priority Target at Level 2, Superintendent at Level 3, and Concealment Expert at Level 4. Captains who chose to take Main Battery Modification 3 in Upgrade Slot 6 and Aiming Systems Modification 1 in Upgrade Slot 3 may wish to take Grease the Gears as their Level 1 skill to improve her turret traverse. Her long maximum gun range when boosted by Gun Fire Control System Modification 2 can often result in Ibuki finding herself well outside the AA bubbles of other ships. As such, the AA skills become of greater importance for encouraging CVs to focus on other targets, particularly when paired with the Defensive AA Fire consumable.
Consumables
Ibuki can equip the following consumables:
- Slot 1: Damage Control Party
- Slot 2: Defensive AA Fire – 3 charges or Hydroacoustic Search – 3 charges
- Slot 3: Catapult Fighter – 3 charges or Spotting Aircraft – 3 charges
- Slot 4: Repair Party – 3 charges
- Slot 5: Submarine Surveillance – 3 charges
Signals
Ibuki captains should mount the standard flags to improve the ship's performance in battle. To improve upon the ship's armaments, India X-Ray (), Victor Lima (), and Juliet Whiskey Unaone () flags are recommended to increase the fire chance and flooding chances respectively. To improve the ship’s survivability, captains should mount November Foxtrot () and India Yankee () flags. India Delta () flags can also be used to increase the amount of hit points that can be recovered using the Repair Party consumable. Sierra Mike () flags are recommended to increase the ship’s already high top speed.
