Eendracht — Dutch Tier VII cruiser.
Cruiser Kijkduin was renamed Eendracht while still on the stocks, and her armament composition was altered at the same time. Later on, the ship was captured by the Germans and renamed KH2, with the intention of her becoming part of the Kriegsmarine. After the war ended, the Netherlands continued building Eendracht under a modified project, and the cruiser was renamed De Zeven Provinciën. Former Eendracht entered service in 1953 and remained a naval asset of the Netherlands until 1975 when she was sold to Peru. There, she served as Aguirre and Almirante Grau up until 1999.

The Ship
Tier VII Eendracht is an evolution of Kijkduin, sharing the same hull but mounting a slightly improved armament. Like her predecessor, she has an impressive medium range AA but her main battery is short ranged. Eendracht’s handling will be familiar to anyone who has played Kijkduin, as both ships have identical handling. In confined spaces, Eendracht can feel difficult to maneuver.
Eendracht mounts a standard cruiser Damage Control Party which is active for 5 seconds with a 60 second cool down between uses. She also mounts a Hydroacoustic Search with three uses as standard. This detects ships at 4 km and torpedoes at 3 km, as well as submarines at maximum depth at 2 km. It has an action time of 100 seconds and a cool down of 120 seconds between uses. In her final slot, Eendracht has the option of a Catapult Fighter or a Spotting Aircraft . The spotter is the optimal choice here, providing a much-needed boost to her main battery range. This is active for 100 seconds, with a 240 second cool down between uses. If the player chooses to equip a fighter, this launches 2 aircraft which will patrol around the ship for up to 90 seconds.
Armament
Eendracht has a main battery of ten 152 mm guns, in most respects these are the same weapons mounted on Kijkduin, meaning both ships have similar limitations. Although she carries two extra guns and has a quicker reload, Eendracht’s sustained DPM sits at the low end of the scale for a light cruiser. Her standard main battery range of 14.8 km is rather short, putting her in easy firing range for enemy battleships should players attempt open water engagements. Her Spotter Aircraft provides a much needed boost to her range, but use of island cover or friendly smoke screens are needed to safely engage targets.
Like many light cruisers, her AP lacks significant penetration above 10 km. They also cause less damage than most Tier VII cruisers. As a result, Eendracht is unlikely to win any gun duels with enemy cruisers. Her HE shells are also somewhat unremarkable. With a low damage per shell and rather slow reload, she trails behind most other light cruisers in DPM. In ideal conditions she can expect to set up to 8 fires per minutes, roughly comparable to Belfast but with a much worse DPM.
Eendracht does not mount torpedoes, instead she has an Airstrike. This is improved over that of Kijkduin, with an 11 km range and 48 bombs dropped across an area of 300 x 438 meters, with a minimum range of 1.5 km. Although she drops more bombs, these are spread across a larger area resulting in a similar drop density. Players will also have to approach within their detection range in order to launch their strike, undetected drops will require the use of cover. A reload of 80 seconds and only a single strike means that they are unlikely to force a determined enemy from cover, but they can provide an unwelcome distraction to enemy ships.
Survivability
Eendracht shares the overall armor scheme of Kijkduin, with rather thin hull plating between 16 and 50 mm thick, Eendracht is vulnerable to HE from all gun calibers and can easily find her health draining away in close range battles. Her thin armor may result in enemy ships scoring many overpenetration hits at short ranges, but it is a brave (or foolish) player who relies on this as Eendracht can just as easily take crippling damage. Eendracht has a long citadel which extends for most of her hull. However, it sits below the waterline making it a difficult target to hit. Additionally, her citadel is narrow and is set back from her 75 mm external armor belt, providing a further level of protection. Adding to her survivability issues, Eendracht has only slightly more health than Kijkduin at 32,600 hit points. This puts Eendracht firmly within the lowest health pool cruisers at Tier VII. With no way to recover lost damage, players must be careful not to over extend themselves.
Anti-Aircraft
Eendracht has some of the strongest potential AA DPS at Tier VII, however this is entirely provided by medium range weapons with a range of 3.5 km and a cautious carrier player can often spot Eendracht and avoid her AA. Their short range means that they have little deterrent value or utility in protecting other ships, but they can dissuade all but the most determined carrier players from performing multiple attacks.
Battle Performance
Eendracht plays much like Kijkduin, she is best suited to fighting from behind cover, where her shell arcs and airstrikes will allow her to engage targets from relative safety. Using island cover will also help to compensate for her short AA range. Her relatively low rate of fire and mediocre maneuverability mean that Eendracht is not suited to open water fighting. She will pose a threat to destroyers, but can struggle to win a DPM race against enemy cruisers, particularly as she lacks the extra punch provided by torpedoes.
Players will need to make the best use of their airstrike to maximize their impact on the battle. While it will not provide a devastating strike, it opens tactical opportunities which can help to overcome some of her main battery limitations. A rain of bombs on targets attempting to hide behind islands can provide a major irritation and tax the damage control party of enemy battleships.Pros:
- Has access to air strikes
- Has 2 more guns compare to the previous ships
- Good AA DPS
Cons:
- Air strikes take a long time to reload
- Most things can penetrate its light armor and large citadel
- Lack of long range AA
- Shells are not well suited for Tier VIII and IX battle
Research
Researchable module upgrades for Eendracht:
- Hull: Upgrade to Hull (B) for more health and improved AA and maneuverability. Research of this module unlocks progression to VIII Haarlem.
- Gun Fire Control System: Upgrade to SUO Mk 7 Mod. 2 for an extra 10% range on the main battery.
Optimal Configuration
Upgrades
The recommended upgrades for Eendracht are:
- Slot 1: Main Armaments Modification 1
- Slot 2: Engine Room Protection or Hydroacoustic Search Modification 1
- Slot 3: Aiming Systems Modification 1
- Slot 4: Propulsion Modification 1
In Slot 4, the Airstrike Modification 1 upgrade can reduce Eendracht’s airstrike reload time, but her short range and single strike make it less useful than on future ships and so is not recommended.
