Ignacio Allende — Pan-American Tier VIII cruiser.

In 1947, the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance was signed in Rio de Janeiro, whereby Argentina, Brazil, and Chile were to strengthen their fleets by purchasing old U.S. Brooklyn-class cruisers. If those countries had ordered the construction of new cruisers in the United States, then the most modern Worcester-class ships would have been used as the basis for the projects.

Ignacio Allende was first released for sale on DD MMM YYYY.

Combat Capability - Consumable Operational Readiness

PanAmCombatInstructions.png
Ignacio Allende is equipped with the Consumable Operational Readiness combat instruction, which provides a significant reduction to consumable reload time. It can be activated after repeatedly hitting enemy ships with main battery shells.

Requirements:

Can only be used after hitting enemy ships with any main battery hits.
Required hits per salvo: 1
Progress per action: 3.7%

Effects:

  • Consumable preparation and reload time: -80%
  • Action time: 30 seconds

At Tier VIII, Ignacio Allende is the first high-tier cruiser in the Pan-American light cruiser line. She continues the gameplay focus on rapid usage of her consumables through her Combat Instructions, alongside her unique offensive and defensive traits compared to other cruisers.

Hull

Typical of most light cruisers, Ignacio Allende’s armor is not to be relied upon. Her 102 mm belt provides little protection against most AP shells she’ll be hit by. Her 25 mm bow and stern allows 381 mm+ guns to overmatch her, a common gun caliber range at her tier spread. Her 27 mm deck is hardly any better, preventing overmatch only from calibers below 406 mm. Her HP pool of 38,600 is decidedly average for her tier. Her torpedo belt protection of 7% is abysmal, making torpedoes a dangerous threat. Indeed, captains will find that Ignacio Allende's best chance of survival comes not from her armor, but from her powerful Specialized Repair TeamsWhile active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second. consumable.

Ignacio Allende's maneuverability is nothing to write home about. Her 33 knot speed and 9.9 s rudder shift time are in the middle of the pack among Tier VIII cruisers. Her turning circle, however, is quite good at 660 m. Her concealment is also great, reaching 10.2 km when fully specced for concealment, allowing her to take advantageous positions on the map.

Armament

Ignacio Allende's main armament comprises eight 152 mm guns in four evenly-split dual turrets, with peculiar characteristics. For starters, they can only fire AP shells, which have improved penetration angles similar to British light cruisers (60-75°), but lack their reduced fuse time and arming threshold. Thus, they will excel against cruisers and battleships, but will struggle in dealing with destroyers. Her guns use the destroyer dispersion formula, making her one of the most accurate cruisers in the game. Her long reload of 7 seconds, however, gives her relatively poor DPM, meaning it will take time to whittle down an enemy ship’s HP. Ignacio Allende has great gun handling, with a traverse speed of 25° per second, as well as her No. 1 and 4 turrets being able to turn a full 360°. She also sports improved ballistics, making it easier for captains to hit targets. Her short range of 15.1, however, means that positioning is important for her to succeed in battle.

Ignacio Allende's distinguishing trait is her Combat Instructions. Her Consumable Operational Readiness provides her with a -80% reduction to her consumable reload time. This allows her to use her consumables in rapid succession, such as restoring more HP with her Specialized Repair TeamsWhile active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second., or using another Surveillance RadarWhile active, detects all enemy ships within the specified radius, disregarding obstacles such as smoke and terrain. in order to provide more information to her team. With a 3.7% progression rate per shell hit, it will take about 27 shells hits to fully charge. The Combat Instructions have a 15 second delay before progression is lost, with 15% of its progression lost every two seconds. Captains should be seeking to fill her Combat Instructions whenever possible, in order to for faster consumable usage when the situation in battle calls for it.

Ignacio Allende carries two quadruple torpedo tube racks on either side. Her torpedoes have fairly average characteristics, with a mediocre range of 8 km, a decent reload and damage of 96s and 16,663 respectively, and a respectable speed of 62 knots. In most situations, these torpedoes will serve only to get captains out of sticky situations at close range, or for ambush attacks.

Ignacio Allende's AA is decent as a whole. Her high long-range AA of 6.9 km allows her to be a constant threat against aircraft. Her long- and medium-range DPS values are not the greatest, but her short-range DPS is the best in her tier. Her flak count of 5 is average for her tier. She can provide assistance to allied ships, and can be a problem for aircraft before they release their payload, but a determined aircraft carrier will still find a way to strike her. If under heavy focus by aircraft, captains should seek allied AA cover.

Ignacio Allende carries standard Depth Charge Airstrikes for a Tier VIII cruiser. She has access to two charges of the armament with a 7 km range and a 30 second reload. Each charge has one aircraft armed with two bombs dealing up to 4,200 damage each. Captains should make active use of this armament whenever there are signs of a submarine's presence nearby, such as fuel spills and sonar pings.

Consumables

Ignacio Allende has access to a wide variety of consumables. In addition to her standard Damage Control PartyWhen activated, instantly repairs fires, floods, and incapacitations, and prevents more for the duration., she has access to a strong variant of the Specialized Repair TeamsWhile active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second. consumable, a choice between Short-Range Hydro-Acoustic SearchWhile active, detects all enemy ships and torpedoes within the specified radius, without regard of obstacles such as smoke and terrain. and Defensive AA FireWhile active, the damage per second of large caliber anti-aircraft guns is increased. in one slot, and a choice between Surveillance RadarWhile active, detects all enemy ships within the specified radius, disregarding obstacles such as smoke and terrain. and Spotting AircraftWhile active, a spotter plane circles the ship enhancing main battery firing range. in another. All of her consumables have a 180 s cooldown (save for the standard cooldown of her Damage Control Party and Spotting Aircraft), as well as having four charges stock (except her unlimited Damage Control Party). She is reliant on her Combat Instructions to rapidly reload her consumables, and to make effective use of their high amount of charges.

The Specialized Repair TeamsWhile active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second. found on Igancio Allende heals back 70% of any damage taken, giving her the best healing potential of any Tier VIII cruiser. In combination with her Combat Instructions, she can survive for a long time, and effectively “trade” her HP against enemy ships by using heals in quick succession.

Ignacio Allende's Short-Range Hydro-Acoustic SearchWhile active, detects all enemy ships and torpedoes within the specified radius, without regard of obstacles such as smoke and terrain. is similar to that found on British destroyers. It has a 3 km detection range for both ships and torpedoes, but has a shorter duration at 100 s. Due to the short range, it serves a mainly defensive role. Her Defensive AA FireWhile active, the damage per second of large caliber anti-aircraft guns is increased. has standard characteristics as most cruisers. Captains will likely find better use from the Short-Range Hydroacoustic Search. Her DFAA will not give a meaningful buff to her AA.

Ignacio Allende's Surveillance RadarWhile active, detects all enemy ships within the specified radius, disregarding obstacles such as smoke and terrain. has a 9 km range with a 25 second duration. While it will provide invaluable information for her team, she will struggle to effectively deal with destroyers, due to her lack of improved fuse characteristics. Her Spotting AircraftWhile active, a spotter plane circles the ship enhancing main battery firing range. features standard characteristics for the consumable, with a 100 s duration and 240 s cooldown. It is up to captains to decide whether they wish to bring more utility, or to be able to deal damage from greater distances.

Gameplay

As a light cruiser, Ignacio Allende is reliant on proper positioning, but in contrast to most, is also heavily reliant on her Combat Instructions. With her good ballistics she is able to land her improved AP shells against broadside targets. Angled targets as well as destroyers will present an issue due to her lack of HE. When her Combat Instructions are filled, Ignacio Allende can truly shine. She can trade her HP against enemy ships with quick use of her heals, being able to stay in the game until the very end with ease. She can also provide quicker information with rapid use of her Surveillance Radar.

A combination of a fine balance between passiveness and well-timed aggression will give captains the best success in Ignacio Allende. She can be played like most cruisers reliant on islands, but will show her true potential with proper use of aggressive positions, being able to fill up and use her Combat Instructions. The tools she has at her disposal make her effective in almost any scenario that can occur in battle. Her unique gameplay loop will also prove refreshing for captains looking for a new experience.

Pros:

  • AP shells with significantly improved penetration angles
  • Guns have good ballistics, and use the destroyer dispersion formula
  • Long range AA
  • Combat Instructions that provides a significant consumable reload reduction
  • Great concealment and turning circle
  • All consumables have a base of 4 charges (except her Damage Control PartyWhen activated, instantly repairs fires, floods, and incapacitations, and prevents more for the duration.)
  • Specialized Repair TeamsWhile active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second. restores 70% of all damage taken

Cons:

  • Poor armor protection
  • Lacks HE shells, which makes dealing with angled ships and destroyers difficult
  • AP shells lack improved fuse time and arming threshold
  • Short main battery firing range
  • Short range on her Short-Range Hydro-Acoustic SearchWhile active, detects all enemy ships and torpedoes within the specified radius, without regard of obstacles such as smoke and terrain.
  • Extremely long consumable reload time
