Mikhail Kutuzov — Soviet special premium Tier VIII cruiser.
The Project 68bis cruiser was laid down in Mykolaiv in 1951. From 1955, she served in the 50th Cruiser Division of the Black Sea Fleet. The first Soviet Ka-15 ship-based helicopter was tested on the ship in the same year. Between 1967 and 1968, the ship performed a combat mission in the Mediterranean Sea during the Arab-Israeli conflict. In 1969, Mikhail Kutuzov became the flagship of the 30th Division of the Black Sea Fleet. In 1987, the cruiser was transferred to the reserve, and between 1999 and 2002, she was converted into a museum ship.

Player Opinion
Performance
One of the ships of the Sverdlov class, the Mikhail Kutuzov, or simply MK, is one of the impressive cruisers ever released into the game. Sporting twelve 152mm guns and a very sound AA suite, she operates as a second line without getting up close and personal with her peers while providing supporting fire herself. Her AA suite is no slouch as with the Defensive Fire AA consumable, the cruiser can literally shred enemy aircraft at and two tiers higher than her. One thing to note that aside from Iwaki Alpha and the old Kitakami, she's one of the ships that has a smoke screen charge which is useful in many ways. She has her downsides however as she is very easily citadel'd and her guns occasionally get incapacitated to outright knocked out. Play her well and she will serve as an asset you will be surprised in gaining.
Pros:
- Impressive penetration against her peers and rate of fire for a light cruiser
- Good range
- Very powerful AA suite
- Durable for a light cruiser
- Fast turret traverse
- Fast shell velocity
- Good handling and ergonomics
- Has a smoke charge
Cons:
- Slightly poor alpha output
- Guns may occasionally get knocked out or incapacitated
- Fairly easy to citadel
- HE shells are a bit subpar
- AP shells, which have impressive penetration against other cruisers, may have a difficulty against tough battleships
