Mikhail Kutuzov — Soviet special premium Tier VIII cruiser.

One of the most advanced light artillery cruisers in the Soviet Navy. The ship was as good as most of her foreign counterparts in terms of speed and armor. The cruiser's key advantage over other ships of her type was her main battery that boasted a very long firing range due to the successful design of turret mounts.

Mikhail Kutuzov is now preserved as a military museum ship in Novorossiysk, Russia.

Mikhail Kutuzov first went on sale on 11 January 2016 on the NA servers, and on 25 December 2015 on the EU servers. It has since been permanently removed from sale.

One of the ships of Project 68bis (the Sverdlov class), Mikhail Kutuzov is one of the better premium cruisers released into the game. Sporting twelve 152mm guns and a very solid AA suite, she operates as a second line support ship without the need to get up close and personal with the enemy. Her anti-aircraft suite is outstanding, and with the Defensive AA Fire  consumable equipped, she shreds enemy aircraft. One thing of note: aside from Iwaki Alpha and the British cruiser line, she's one of the few non-destroyers that has access to the Smoke Generator  consumable which is useful in many ways. She has her downsides, however, as she is very easily to citadel and her guns occasionally get incapacitated to outright knocked out. She plays very differently from her cousin in the tech tree, Chapayev, and those differences set her in a class by herself.

Impressive penetration against her peers and rate of fire for a light cruiser.
Longest range of any Tier VIII cruiser.
Fairly durable for a light cruiser.
Fast turret traverse and shell velocity.
Good handling characteristics (rudder shift and turning radius).
Comes with at least one charge of Smoke Generator  (two with the premium version).

Below average "alpha strike" damage.
Guns prone to getting knocked out or incapacitated.
Fairly large citadel protected by below average armor.
HE shell damage inferior to 155mm shells of Mogami.
AP shells have solid penetration capability against other cruisers, but are only useful against battleships at suicide range.

+The ''Sverdlov-class'' light cruisers were a development over the ''Chapayev-class'', which was still a design from the WW2 era. While the armor and main armament of the ships were to remain the same, other improvements were desired.
+Compared to the ''Chapayev-class'', the ''Sverdlov-class'' was noticeably enlarged. Being a little over 212m long and almost 22m wide, and a draft of almost 7.4m, these ships could displace up to 16,600 tons when fully loaded. The crew complement counted 1,270 men.
+As light cruisers, the main armament was fairly standard for ships of their time. Four turrets, with each housing three 152mm L/57 B-38 guns, were mounted on the centerline. Firing a 55kg heavy shell at ranges of up to 30km, these guns could fire at six and a half rounds every minute.
+Auxilliary Armament saw twelve twin mounted 100mm/70 dual purpose guns, with three mounts on each side of the ship. Each gun could fire a 15.6kg heavy shell with up to 18 rounds per minute. The automatic AA guns consisted of 16 twin mounts with fully automatic 37mm/70 guns. Two quintuple Torpedo launchers and up to 132 mines were also installed.
+The armor protection was identical to that of the preceding ''Chapayev-class''. The vital areas were protected by a 100mm strong belt, which was closed by a 100mm strong bulkhead to the rear and 120mm to the front. A 50mm thick deck would provide protection against plunging shells and bombs. The main armament was protected by 130mm strong barbettes, while the turrets featured a 175mm face plate and 60-75mm thick sides and roof. For the conning tower 130mm armor for the sides and a 100mm roof were deemed sufficient.
+Six boilers would produce steam for two turbines, which would generate 110,000 shp on two shafts. That allowed for a designed top speed of 32.7kn, and with the fuel oil capacity, which was greatly improved over the ''Chapayev-class'', a cruising range up to 5,700 nautical miles at 17kn.
